Barbie we have a cleaning teeth song and do it in the bath as at makes less mess.

(tune of "here we go round the mulberry bush") This is the way we clean our teeth.....

So far so good (which isn't like Isabelle at all!)

bluesatinsash · 28/11/2010 21:03

Hello ladies, another stranger visiting tonight!
I know I won't catch up with everyone in one go, but here's trying!

MrsKate Again - you are so not a failure. PND is a medical condition and no one ever thinks they are a failure when they have a cold do they?! Hope the meds work and that you feel a happier mummy in time for Christmas

Sabs Really don't worry about the bottle, I seem to remember my older dc's having milk in a bottle at morning and night untill they were over 2 and able to choose which cup they wanted. In both cases, the end of the bottle seemed to be the end of milk for them, so I really wouldn;t push it too far
And yes, the close sling is just wonderful. If you need one in about a year Wink, I'll send you mine!
Well done on the weight loss - it sounds like we have the same distance to go and are going at the same pace, think we need to be SW buddies. My group is really good and the consultant excellent. Life has been so busy recently that I've not been focused and so think I've stayed the same for the last 3 weeks - think I need to food diary next week. Having siad that I was away with work last week and discovered on Sunday pm that I needed a cocktail dress(!), I found a stretchy one from my slim times, which fitted OK and really didn't look too bad - helped by the post baby boobs, I think thought!

GG Lovely to see you - shame Isabelle is being a little madam. But then I don't think any of our children on here sleep

Blue I am so Envy at the snow - this year we are fully sledged up and everything but there is not a bit of snow. One thing to make you laugh - I was out in the garden doing a bit of winter tidying ( miving things so I could get in the shed etc) and came accross a bag of bulbs that I hadn't planted and thought, oh well grounds too hard but I'll just put them into some compost. Then nearly broke my hand by hitting the compost to see if it was soft! DD1 made me a fab seed box - need to get all my seeds organized now!
And [melt] at your description of ds1 - my dd 1(7) has only just given away her last muslin with the extra labels on it as she too is a label stroker

budha Happy birthday to E - sounds like you all had a lovely day

vjay I didn't realize you were north of aviemore - ski-tastic, think we might all need to come up for a meet up in winter ( assuming we can get there that is!)

And I know I've missed loads of lovely people - barbie and cupcake sorry things are bad a night for you both. BabyBelle was heading in the right direction and even slept through for about 4 nights a few weeks ago ( we can't remember if it was before or after pneumonia). However now, she is awful. Up at least 4 times in the night and yelling for a large part of it. I'm hoping it is just a phase that she will grow out of quick.

And in answer to the many questions, we have started weaning now and BabyBelle seems to love any food that we give her, and we have given her a lot. I seem to have taken the advice that if you start at 6 months you can introduce different foods quickly to heart and she is already on 3 meals ( after a week)! It also seems to have sorted out her exploding bottom which is great, but I do echo your point, cupcake, it's a major pain the bum to have to introduce 3 meals alongside all the milk feeds, and to remember to take it out and thats not mentioning the cooking part - pureed potato is like glue!

LIfe in the Babybelle household has been mad recently - work is going ballistic and I'm having to work most evenings at home, this week should be the worst of all. Dh had to cope for 3 days last week when I was away and passed the test with flying colours - he even said it wasn't so bad..... Weekends have been very full and I have only just started Christmas shopping - arrggghh Got to go, lunches to make, food for babyJ to sort, bags to pack, shower to have - I really don't love Sundays nights

Hi to everyone I've missed - esp our sickly medium pant girls and neeko, MLS ,4ever and curly ( thanks for the weight comment but I do have a bit more to go!)

bakingqueen · 28/11/2010 21:32

Neeko · 28/11/2010 21:38

Woo Hoo! Gracie's back! Grin Hello lovely. So glad you found your way back to the greenhouse. I almost sent you a map Wink It seems the girls are winning on giving their mummies a hard time. Stick with us, we'll keep you sane to the teenage years.

Barbie Loved that link. You're doing fab, lady and bed snuggles are essential when it's just you girls at home. Bath brushing here too but it's easier to brush from behind them when they have more teeth. Getting them to say AAAH and EEEE helps too.

louey hope you're just feeling rubbish enough to keep you reassured. I'm flying solo Monday -Wednesday and dreading it.

Mermaid how was the flicks and how many butlers have you ordered?

Vjay hope you're having a lovely time and the snow's not scupperng the visit. I thought about Pjay's snow shovel too.

sabs welcome back to you. You've been missed. I wouldn't stress yourself about the bottles or bed snuggles. She won't go to uni doing either! Enjoy her. I was quite excited to see you mention a next one. Can I get out a white coat?

Blue loved the description of the sledging. Only a smattering of snow here. Looking forward to the Love actually night. Has it really been a year?

Happy belated bithday to your beautiful boys annie and Buddha

Cupcake I fel your pain on the night feedings. This won't be a problem in a year and think how quickly the last year has passed.

Thanks for all your concern re work. I've stolen some of BQ's sand and will deal with it in two weeks. Too many memories to make with my girls until then.

Love to all

Neeko · 28/11/2010 21:41

X-posts. Waves to LBM and BQ
Off to bed now.

VJay · 28/11/2010 21:47

Wow we're all out to play tonight Grin

blue I will try and think of a festive name for you. DH did get to work fine, but it is bad up here. I'm reading Cjay the philosphers stone, it's taking ages because he falls asleep so quick when I read to him Smile

gracie HELLOOOOOOO so good to see you Smile, it does sound like you have a strong determined little girl like barbie, you can share tips.

bq not long til your scan, I'm sending you some sand from our beach up here, it's got some snow mixed in too Grin

lbm I felt exhausted just reading your post, wow you do such a lot, I hope you find some time for you amongst all that Smile

neeko Grin at dh's shovel, I ised it today and put some rock salt down too. I'm sending you some snow covered sand too.

Had a fab day in the snow too today, I needed to go to the shop but couldn't push the buggy so sat the boys on the sledge and pulled them round, they both loved it Grin, we built 2 snowmen and Cjay also built a castle, and got buried in the snow by my step dad Grin Just got to see if the school is open tomorrow or will it be another snow day.

VJay · 28/11/2010 21:48

Forgot to say, I like the idea of the second Wednesday being 'love actually' night Smile

VJay · 29/11/2010 09:02

Morning, we have a snow day, the schools are shut YAY Grin. I really didn't fancy going out in it today.

barbie1 · 29/11/2010 10:07

I want snow!

Had the worst 72 hours, ac caught fire Shock the smell of burning plastic was horrendous....luckily the guy opposite was a fireman, so he came over and made the villa safe...but Dolly was awake by then (started 20 mins after her going to bed) and i havent been able to put her down for the last 48 hours or so, this meant i had to go to bed with her in my bed at 7pm, no dinner and no shower...even when she was asleep i daren't put her in her cot in case she woke...Her temp was sky high last night, all clammy and restless Sad Better today, we have just spent the last hour lying on my bed chatting and laughing Smile

My best friend here who has a ds 1 week older then Dolly also has been having the same problem with fever, however last night he started fitting and was rushed to a&e with a rash Shock thankfully he is ok now, but the doc told his parents to inform any kids he might of been in contact with that it might be catching, and guess what, we have spent the last three days with them....keeping a close eye while we wait for his results..

So thats the reason i missed the emmsy's reunion last night, a big hello to gracie who i will get around to writing too shortly once this fever has pasted.

Love to you all, i have 5 mins while dolly is playing with a ball, hence my post now.

I called in a cleaner to help as the house was a terrible mess, now just waiting for the Ac guys.....

OP posts:
4everhopeful · 29/11/2010 11:39

Poor Barbie what a palava!

Great to see the reunion chat and Gracie back! Grin Hope all the snowed in folk are hankering down and enjoying the winter wonderland that is the uk right now!

Sympathies to the disturbed sleepers! S has woken loads at night lately after the early months of sleeping through, Hmm she has a clockwork daytime routine and naps twice, but at night wakes every couple of hours looking for bf, falls asleep again within seconds so not actually hungry for it, just comfort, i put her back to bed, and same again within a couple of hours, by the 3rd or 4th time i keep her in bed with me as im too tired! Must break this lil habit! Also she loves her pureed food, but now not so interested in her bottles, have never really bf in the day, so attempting water in her cup but shes not quite got the hang of it bless her! However shes such a happy lil soul, even through teething! She is always smiling and laughing and fascinated by everything which is just adorable! Grin

I feel very bad to have been such a stranger! Blush I lurk reguarly but just havent been able to keep up with you all, im sorry! Blush I feel particuarly bad as theres alot of thought of this time last year when you all kept of me sane, as mermaid says, getting me through each week and each scan when i was so scared to believe! What a difference a year makes though! Grin Im very excited about doing lots of christmasy family things! Putting our tree up this weekend and planning to take S to see Santa at Harrods in a few weeks! Grin All else is well, still cant believe she is 6m, we all went for a meal with my mum the day after which is also my bros anniversary, it was nice to take S to the cemetery with us, having S has helped my mum hugely, she really has brought to much joy Grin

Oop she is stirring, better go, huge embarrassed hugs Blush to all of you lovely Emmsys and so sorry i been so crap with the personals of late but i love you all x x x x x

MummysLittleSunbeams · 29/11/2010 15:28

Right I started this post on Saturday, lets see if I get to finish it!

Louey get some Floradix as you might have a lack of iron. I had really bad headaches when I was pregnant & Floradix really did work.

Barbie you didn't sleep all night with your dd on your chest did you? Two nights ago I spent half of the night with dd2 on her cushion on my lap. It's funny how totally obsessed you get about sleep once you have a baby isn't it!

Vjay very jealous of your snow. We bought a sledge yesterday but still have no snow! I remember pulling dd1 to the shop up the road last year in her old sledge & she loved it!

Gracie glad to see you back. Are you going to post some more pics of Isabelle? Has she still got lots of hair? My dd2 is a bit of a ginge (looks bright carrot in photo's!) however it seems to be falling out now.

Neeko I know you are dreading work but just think - it's only 26 days until Christmas.... yeeeehaaa!

MrsKate glad to see you back too, hope your meds are making you feel a little better.

BQ one week to go until you can breathe a massive sigh of relief. Think what a fab Christmas you are going to have.

Talking of scans Louey when is yours?

Sabs dd1 has milk twice a day from a Nuby cup. It's a beaker with a silicone teat. As for night wakings - don't ask me, when I woke up this morning there were four of us in the bed! Grin

Well my news is that I've taken dd2 to a cranial osteopath. I've been having major problems getting her to nap during the day. I have to carry her in the sling at home & when we are out she screams her head off in the car & the buggy. She apparently has a lot of pressure & congestion in her head. The day after our appointment she settled herself with a dummy but has since spat it out & refused it! We'll see what she's like after her second appt on Friday.

I've run out of time - have to go & collect dd1 from pre-school but I'll be back later to finish my post.

MummysLittleSunbeams · 29/11/2010 20:20

Barbie what a nightmare you've had. The thing to remember when you have a child with a high fever is to keep them cool. Easier said than done in your position I know especially with no a/c. Just remember to cool her with wet flannels. Some children do have febrile convulsions & although they must be absolutely terrifying, they are usually harmless.

4ever welcome back. I remember that excited feeling of planning the 1st Christmas with dd, savour it as next year she'll be pulling the tree down! Smile

Blue did you manage to get out today? How about you drop the 'blue' for Christmas & go for something like 'SantaWearsSatinSashes'??!

Buddha you might want to try pick up/put down method from Baby Whisperer.

Cupcake I caught a bit of Miranda last week & I proper lol'd! I'm recording it tonight.

Right I'm flying solo tonight, dd1 in bed asleep, dd2 on my lap dozing - cheek to bare boob. Going to try & get her upstairs & in bed without moving her...... Hmm!

VJay · 29/11/2010 20:50

This Mirander programme is hilarious, thanks for whoever first mentioned it GrinGrinGrin

loueytbg · 29/11/2010 22:58

10pm and have just finished all my chores. Actually, that's a lie - I've finished all my urgent chores but I did a to-do list today and it was depressingly long.

vjay Yay for snow day Grin Hope you are not snowed in for the long term though. Sounds like you all had a lot of fun playing in it at the weekend Grin I have recorded miranda tonight because I want to see what all the fuss is about Grin

mls am keeping my fingers crossed that the osteopath can work some more magic on DD2. Will try and find the floradix - thanks for the tip. I think the migraine was probably caused by stress (all the stuff going on with DS1 and the lack of therapy).

4ever you sound so happy despite the lack of sleep - lovely to think of S helping your mum so much. Hope you have a lovely trip to see Santa. We have a nursery outing on Sunday to see Santa - we live very close to a miniature railway and every year they turn one of the stations into santas grotto - you get the train there. It could be bit cold on the train this year though!

barbie blimey - now I understand what your FB comment was about. Poor you and poor Dolly. Hope she is feeling better and doesn't catch the bug off your friend's baby. mls is right, febrile convulsions are very scary but rarely cause any long-term problems. Just try and keep her temp down as much as you can.

neeko hope your DDs behave themselves over the next few days. Have you escaped the snow then???

sabs another one????? Did I miss something?? Well done you on the weight loss, 11 lbs in 5 weeks is very good going. DS2 is also really fussy about the temperature of his milk and likes it very warm. (He tells me in no uncertain terms if it isn't warm enough Confused) They still have their milk in <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=babycup.org/_members/babycup/babycup3.jpg&imgrefurl=babycup.org/&usg=__V5GVZT8fe9yjiq_A8VxGnUzk6kw=&h=300&w=300&sz=7&hl=en&start=92&zoom=1&tbnid=aY5cJK86CEyT3M:&tbnh=150&tbnw=146&prev=/images%3Fq%3Davent%2Bbeaker%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26rlz%3D1T4SUNC_enGB384GB385%26biw%3D1291%26bih%3D473%26tbs%3Disch:10%2C2507&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=1040&vpy=191&dur=140&hovh=225&hovw=225&tx=126&ty=183&ei=3iv0TPShKsKd4Qb9tsiNAg&oei=xSv0TICxO426hAfokImwCg&esq=7&page=8&ndsp=12&ved=1t:429,r:11,s:92&biw=1291&bih=473" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">avent magic beakers which have spouts. We put them in the microwave and they seem ok. I wouldn't worry too much about the bottle thing tbh - I know they say you shouldn't use them after 1 yr but as long as you use a cup during the day, I can't see the problem. Can't help on the crying I'm afraid - one of the advantages of having twins is they always had to wait and learnt very quickly that crying wasn't necessarily going to get them what they wanted.

LBM I agree with vjay your life sounds manic at the moment. Hope it calms down soon - although loving that you are now wearing cocktail dresses Grin. Very good news that babyJ no longer has an exploding bottom Grin I think you can't puree potato - it does turn to glue, just have to mash it really well.

Big hello to lurking gracie - given how much sleep you are getting, I'm impressed you can lurk, let alone post. Sounds like you and barbie need to bang a couple of heads together (gently of course Wink) We have the same song for teeth brushing.

blue thanks for ebay tips - I obviously have to hoard more bags I think. Mind you, the amount I order from next, it shouldn't be difficult Blush How did you cope this morning? Was the nursery open?

buddha sounds as though E had a lovely birthday Smile Have you recovered from the party yet?

mermaid hope you are not snowed in too. My PILs and SIL are (in mid-cornwall). Very unusual for them to be snowed in! THanks for the tip for the 4head - went out and bought some. Unfortunately, it didn't work either, just had to ride it out.

cupcake thinking of the babysitting problem again - have you got any antenatal friends who you could take babysitting turns with??? Wouldn't cost you anything that way. I'm also jealous of everyone going to see HP - DH hates the cinema so we haven't been for ages and TBH nowadays I would rather spend a night out with him talking instead of watching a film. Hope you get the sleeping sorted soon.

BQ hello my fellow weeble. Deep breaths, you are nearly there. Feeling tired is good, feeling sick is good. I also have days when symptoms seem to be less, and then the next day they are back with a vengeance. They will ease up at 12wks ish (at least they did when I was pg with DTs).

mrskate hope you are ok x

mls scan is on Friday afternoon - just trying to hang on til then. I sort of think that if that scan is ok, then we might actually get a baby. This week is difficult as in the back of my mind, I know this is where it went wrong last time (although I didn't find out until 12 weeks). It doesn't help that DH is away until Friday. Have just seen the weather forecast and am now slightly worried about the fact we are likely to get snow overnight. Its almost easier if we have loads because then I won't attempt to move but the likely situation is that we will just get enough to cause chaos and roads will be a mess (let alone the tube).

Right, this has taken me an hour (eek!!) must go and get some sleep.

mermaidspurse · 30/11/2010 10:11

wipe out Smile

barbie1 · 30/11/2010 10:32

Not you as well Grin Might have to get to the mall ski slope to indulge in the cold stuff!

OP posts:
loueytbg · 30/11/2010 11:05

Morning barbie - how was last night's sleep??

mermaid we have snow! I am torn between being excited and worried that I am going to crash the car. If it gets really bad I can walk the DTs to the childminders and work from home. In work at the mo and it looks like a blizzard out there but its not sticking yet.

mermaidspurse · 30/11/2010 11:31

it's unheard of here this early ever my 'ansome. Am cold but at least I sleep - poor barbie et al.

gracie hello lovely lady and massive waves to little I tooxxx

My mouse hand is too cold, laters my loveliesSmile

4everhopeful · 30/11/2010 12:08

Yay London is blanketed in snow! Grin Summers face was a picture, combo of puzzled and excited! Grin I got so excited i turned my calendar over convinced it was December today! Confused Grin

barbie1 · 30/11/2010 14:21

Enjoy Grin

Hugs to you all, still no Ac, and still with a clingy little madam, who is only happy when being naughty (as the fb pictures tell!)

Sleep still an issue, too bunged up to lie flat, sleeps in the crook of my arm all night Hmm

Thinking of you all, please be careful in the snow..i do worry about you all.

As soon as i get my pleasant child back ill be back posting xxx

OP posts:
loueytbg · 30/11/2010 15:50

4ever ah bless Grin I remember the first time we built a snowman with DTs (last Jan) was such a lot of fun.

mermaid are you still snowed in?

Have had 2 lunches today and I'm still feeling Envy. Oh and I've bought a hat, I think I'm getting very middle-aged as I was thinking it was too cold this morning and maybe I ought to have a hat on Confused It does have sequins on it though (so totally impractical Grin)

barbie1 · 30/11/2010 15:56

louey its not a bad link i promise, it will warm your heart Wink
I love hats, cant wait to go home and wear them again! Glad you are feeling suitably sick, tis all for a very good reason Grin
Dh is not on line yet Hmm i bet Dolly wakes before i get to speak to him he is going to the moulin rouge tonight, purely for team bonding Hmm
Only 4 more sleeps til he is home Smile louey how are you coping flying solo?

monkey hope you gave in and opened the christmas present and you and little c are sat cuddled up watching it x
