Dating question; -ve test when pregnant

Hi,

I am confused about dates and wondered whether anyone could advise me?

I missed a period mid-sept and did 2 pregnancy tests both negative, one on the due day and one 4 days late. In the end I put it down to stress although I've never missed a period before but I am not absolutely regular (28-31 days).

Today approx when next period would be due, I did a test which said I am pregnant Smile and said I conceived 3+ weeks ago.

I am delighted but trying to work out when I would be due as my last period was in August but mid-Sept I wasn't pregnant.

I hope this makes sense; could I have conceived just before my Sept period was due which stopped the period but didn't show up on the tests?

Thanks!

3+ weeks ago means your pregnancy would be dated at least 5 weeks. So that does co-incide with your missed period. Doesn't mean the pregnancy stopped the period though, you could have missed the period and then ovulated in the third or last week of September. You'll have to explain to the doc that you aren't sure of your dates and that you had a negative test when the period was due so the pregnancy can't be a result of the August period. Perhaps they might do an earlier scan for you?

Or...it could be a result of the missed period. As in, concieved at the beginning of Sept, so stopped the Sept period, but not enough hcg (pregnancy hormone) to actually show up on the tests. There are lots of women on here who seem to get negative tests early on but ARE pregnant. In which case, you'll have been pregnant for longer than you thought!

Congratulations and good luck with it all.

Thanks for the advise. Will go and see doc and wait till scan to know more!
