Anyone used cheap ovulation tests?

I plan to start ttc next month. I already have a DS, but he took 2 years of ttc! This time I'm in a bit more of a hurry!

I was thinking about getting some of the cheap ovulation test strips from eBay/amazon, as the decent ones are SO expensive! Has anyone tried using these, and if so do you know if they actually work?

Also has anyone used the cheap pregnancy tests on there as i know I'm too impatient!

yes I have and they worked ok for me...you have to pee in a pot and dip tho...

BUT - I would really recommend doing them twice a day, not once as it states on the packet. Sometimes the LH surge is short and you can miss it otherwise. Also dont stop having sex too soon after you get the positive. The instructions say you will ovulate between 12 and 36 hours after a positive test, but this is not guaranteed. You are detecting the surge before ovulation and not ovulation itself. Stress can delay ovulation, so its quite possible to ovulate even later than the 36 hours. I ovulated 3 days after a positive test (confirmed by rising temperatures and closed cervix, see www.fertilityfriend.com or TCOYF.com for more info on this) So beware of getting a false sense of security (thinking you have definately ov'd) and stopping having sex too soon.

Finally not all cheapies are equal. Have a look at how many millimetres the strips are, the thicker the better (prices dont differ but quality does)

Yep! DC3 due in 8wks, came off the pill in Dec, very feint ovulation in Jan, no ovulation in Feb, March - BINGO! I was also using Fertility Friend and charting my temps.
