early testing is bad. that way does madness lie. wait until your period is late, and resist that urge:

here are the stats:

10dpo=35%
11dpo=51%
12dpo=62%
13dpo=68%
14dpo=74%
15dpo=80%
16dpo=88%
17dpo=92%

The majority of the top ten threads in the conception thread are contemplating testing or have already tested... Yet are they too ashamed to show their faces here... I wonder! ( just playing devil's advocate-someone's got to!)

lissieloucifer · 15/10/2010 17:25

ah, people dont really want to hear how much better it is to wait! the key thing is that early testing wont change the outcome of the pregnancy. it doesnt make you any more or less pregnant, it just costs you more.

only 92% accurate at 17 DPO? 17????? They are rubbish tests!!

TheNextMrsDracula · 15/10/2010 17:51

I wouldn't dream of testing til I'm at least 5 days late. Those things are expensive!

lissieloucifer · 15/10/2010 17:53

tests like FR arent actually accurate from 5 days early, they are based on 5d from the day of your missed period. the stats are actually really, really shit. for every bfp at 10dpo there are thousands which wont show untill your period is late. then youve got the added heartbreak of if your period shows up. and if you get a bfn you wont believe it, so will retest a few days later anyway!

shameless bump, i will spread the word!

I will never test early again.
A its expensive but awful I have had 2 bfp's after testing early that turned into bfn's a few days after AF should have been due.
Sad

Its sad and horrible when that happens. Im due on the 5th November and im not testing till the 6th.

lissieloucifer · 26/10/2010 15:33

exactly, I have had 12 mc's. all v early. i wish to god I didnt know how mnany times ive been pg. sorry about your cp's though [hsad] how long have you been ttc for?>

OP posts:
inbetweener · 26/10/2010 17:09

Only 5 months properly so I know thats much shorter then some. But seeing that faint bfp turn into heavy AF just sucked !!!

As tempting as it may be I wont test early.

Oh but its sooooooooo hard though Sad

lissieloucifer · 26/10/2010 18:17

i know, its really shit. are you ttc your first?

OP posts:
Loujalou · 26/10/2010 20:06

Testing early is bad. I tested (after months of trying) on 16 dpo and got a positive. Wouldn't test before thanks to Lissie spreading the word and me too scared to get a BFN!

lissieloucifer · 26/10/2010 20:13

[hgrin] a few days really does make a massive difference. there is nothing quite like seeing a proper bfp rather than a "if i hold it up to the light, on an angle and squint theres a v faint line" one.

OP posts:
Loujalou · 27/10/2010 08:01

Mine was a nice strong line. Am just hoping its sticky.

Lissie how are things with you? I had heard on the grapevine you had given up on the ttc madness.

lissieloucifer · 27/10/2010 08:16

i remember (i think - am v scatty) [hgrin]

Im ok thanks, I was all set to give up, but dh wasnt ready so we are giving it another year, that will make it 6y (we are on 5 now) i think thats long enough.

OP posts:
Loujalou · 27/10/2010 11:11

16 months was bad enough and am only 6 weeks so not counting any chickens just yet. I can't even contemplate how you keep going. But then you have to keep your eye on the prize. [hwink]

inbetweener · 27/10/2010 11:22

Wow lissie ((())) Thats a long time. YOu seriously must have some incredible strength. Im glad your DH is supporting you and up for it too. It makes such a difference as it really can damage relationships.

No im not ttc my first. Its weird becuase I feel like a fraud for saying that I understand as I already have 2 beautiful daughters aged 6 and 8. I should count my blessings I guess. I do certainly appreciate them I promise you. I just feel like I havent finished yet I guess.

Fingers crossed this is the months and for yuo too {grin}

lissieloucifer · 28/10/2010 23:19
