No, you get what you are given. Hmm

Keep having babies. If it's a girl, leave her behind in the hospital (or give her to me).

loopyloops · 09/10/2010 23:15

Anyone else singing this to the tune of "Sitting on the dock of the bay?" Grin

There is book called " How to choose the sex of your baby" Its good read.
Loads of tips to try, good luck.

fedupttcnosuccess · 10/10/2010 15:03

search the archives first, is a very good tip, before asking the question which seems to have been asked a billion times before! good luck x

for a boy they say you should try to BD as near as possible to actual ovulation (Y sperm are supposed to get there quicker, but lack stamina - he he)

for a girl you should try to time it so that you BD 2-3 days before ovulation.

It's obviously not 100% reliable though...

GetDownYouWillFall · 10/10/2010 18:00

there's also some other weird stuff about acidity / alkalinity of the vagina I believe, there is lots of stuff if you Google it Grin

Personally I would be happy either way, and the whole concept of choosing the sex of your baby I find a bit unpleasant TBH e.g. what happened in China.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 10/10/2010 18:19

Just don't turn into one of these people who ends up having 10 kids just because you're that desperate for a boy. It may never happen.

I'd love a little girl (have a DS) but will be thrilled with another boy, just as long as it's healthy.

Either way good luck Grin

Lulumaam · 10/10/2010 18:22

i have a DD and a DS both conceived on day 13 of a 28 days cycle.. who knows if you really can influence things.. it is the sperm that determines the gender...

anyway have a 3rd baby because you want a 3rd baby/child.

CrazyPlateLady · 10/10/2010 18:34

I conceived this baby (I'm pregnant) on the day I ovulated and friend said it would be a boy because of the faster swimmer thing.

Its a girl. First time it was a boy when I concieved on that day.

These 'tips' are crap. It is random.

I agree with Lulumaam, have it because you want a 3rd child, not a boy. Hate it when I read these stories where people have 10 children because 9 were the same sex and they wanted the other. You should want the child, not the gender.

GetDownYouWillFall · 10/10/2010 19:16

there you go, some evidence that there is no "sure fire" way of getting the sex you want - thank goodness.

The thing is these tips are perpetuated, because 50% of the time they will be correct.

With me I got pregnant from SWI six days before I ovulated. I assumed from what I read that it would be a girl.

She was (IS) a girl, so of course, I am confirmed in my view that the "tip" was correct.

But it was always going to be 50/50 anyway.

darcymum · 10/10/2010 19:23

Did you ever hear of that doctor who sold some sort of potion to chose the sex you wanted? He said it had a 100% guarantee and would give you your money back if you didn't get the sex you wanted. Apparently, he made a fortune.

Oh and btw, he gave 50% of people their money back.

buttonmoon78 · 11/10/2010 07:59
