How soon after forgetting the pill do you ovulate?

Me again, as we are planning on starting TTC nov/dec I've not been too careful remembering to take my pill (the one you take at the same time everyday).

However, went to visit parents for long weekend last weekend and DH packed as I was at work and he wasn't. Guess what he forgot my pill (even though I put it out to make sure he remembered). Anyway I ended up missing 2/3 days and yes we did the deed although DH (sorry TMI)withdrew before completion. Would I have started ovulating in this time?

Not bothered if I could be but I have missed before and not got preg. Just interested if because u have to take this pill every day it means I would ovulate more quickly?

Any ideas please, thanks.

I took the Pill that you take at the same time every day - microgynon 30 or something like that, and got preggers while on it..as did 2 other women I was talking to about it yesterday at mum and tots. 99.whatever% effective my arse..

Compo if its 2 weeks how come some women get preg whilst on the pill, and it says if you miss a day your at risk for 2 days?

I'm prob ok anyway, as the number of times I forget I should have been preg months ago. don't think this it the right pill for me, but can't go back to the old one at I have high blood pressure during first preg.

Oh, the old withdrawal thing is definitely dodgy too. when I got pg my dp didn't even ejaculate - it was an aborted session, so to speak.
I was very very surprised (but delighted) when I found out though.

It would be a nice surprise for me too if I was, but with my past history I would think it highly unlikely. it just seems strange the you are not protected bit, when it takes 2 weeks to ovulate!!!

ooh I'm not sur - got that off a website called 'women's health'. They do say that the pill isn't 100 per cent effective anyway

microgynon 30 says you arent protected til 7 days after being back on it..so do you ovulate as soon as you stop taking it?

if you take the ones that you stop for a few days, how soon after do you get your period?

I'm on Mycrogynon too. If you totally miss one (you've got 36 hours grace) then you need to use extra protection for seven days after. I don't think your ovaries suddenly go 'ping' and produce an egg as soon as you miss a pill though! The pill works in a combined way (no ovulation, the fluid in the neck of the womb thickens to prevent sperm passing through and the lining of the uterus is thinned making implantation highly unlikely) so you're probably ok but obv. people do get pg on the pill.

I think it sounds like your on the mini pill though Jersey which might be v. different to the combined on we're on (you don't have to take this one at the same time every day exactly whereas you do with the mini pill)

I thought, although i could be completely wrong, that the combined pill works exactly as described by decaf girl but that the mini pill doesnt actually stop ovulation it just thickens the mucus and thins the womb lining. Not sure though i was on mini pill while breast feeding but combined ever since, might go and see if i can find my leaflets or anything to check

The mini pill can suppress ovulation in some women (generaly older woman but this is not always the case). The mini pill is taken without a break, the bleed that you get with the mini pill is a 'Real' period, with the combined pill it is a withdrawl bleed because you don't take the pill for a week.

If you don't bave a period with the mini pill it means that you don't ovulate....no ovulation = no period IYSWIM.

The mini pill works in all woman be changing the cervical mucus and making it almost always impossible for the sperm to pass though it and join with any egg that has been released. This is different to how the combined pill workd and is why you have less 'forgetting time' with the mini pill than with the COC.

If you do ovulate woth the mini pill, and you missed it for 3 days you would not be protected. Withdrawal, although a little better than nothing is not a reliable form of contraception as there are sperm in pre ejeaculate secretions.
