Help - I need a longer luteal phase! Any ideas welcome...

Title says it all really!

Background is: I'm on my third cycle of ttc #3 after a mmc at 16 weeks in July (not strictly relevant although it may explain why my cycles are all over the place). On my last cycle I was using CBFM and temping, only to discover that I ov'd on day 18. AF arrived on day 26.

I have a horrible feeling that an 8-day luteal phase is not much use in terms of getting anything to implant and stick, so am looking for any ideas as to how to lengthen the LP to something realistic.

Can anyone help?

hey izzy. I have no medical knowledge but from reading enough threads, I think that if you are diagnosed with a problem they can give you some sort of treatment with progesterone.
perhaps it is just your cycles out of sync cos of the mc and it might improve in the next few months. Did you have any idea about your LP beforehand or is it only recently that you have been aware of it? I know some things can change with age but if you have 2 dc already you at least have a history of having a sufficiently normal LP to conceive.
Some people on here know about herbal stuff. Agnus Castus is mentioned a lot, perhaps that is something that can help regulate your cycle, would be worth looking up. I don't expect the docs will be much use at the moment, when you are only on cycle 3. They will fob you off for at least 3 more months possibly.

Hi kat - yes I have had ridiculous luteal phases in the past - I'm sure I've mentioned before on here ds was conceived 4 days before my last period (found at scans I was 2.5 weeks further on than I should have been Confused ). Last 2 pgs were conceived middle of the month textbook-fashion so I assumed problem had resolved, but it seems maybe not! Having said that, it still took 8 months of trying for dd and 3 years of not being careful for dc3.

Have heard that agnus castus works, but also seem lots of posts warning against use in pg. Might be worth a shot though, will google again...

the posters that use it say that if you are ttc you should only use it up until the day you ovulate because of warnings about use in pg. What i don't get is that if you stop it when you ovulate, how does it help your LP?
