Is stopping the pill mid cycle a bad idea?

We have just decided to start trying for another baby and I'm thinking of stopping the pill straight away, mid cycle. I feel so impatient to start trying as I'm already 42 and aware that time is running out! Is this a bad idea? I even read somewhere that stopping mid cycle can increase your fertility in the first month as the hormones change so quickly. Possibly a load of rubbish? Anybody else stopped mid clycle? What happened? The reason for my impatience is that I've wanted to try for #2 for over a year while my dh has only just come round to the idea. We already have a dd who's 2.5, so I was old even when I had her Grin.

I asked my doctor about this- I wanted tio stop mid-cycle as otherwise I would have been on my period whilst on holiday- and she said it was fine to do so.

I stopped mid cycle and had a period pretty much straight away - regular(ish) cycles since so no problems..

Im the same as you. We decided to ttc 10 days ago after talking about it for 6 months and I stopped 2 days into last pack of Loestrin 20 . Dr said that this was fine :) Good luck

Same here, I stopped mid packet and AF arrived as per usual, didn't seem to have any effect.

Wont do you, or your fertility any harm, but whenever I have stopped mid cyle for various reasons, the withdrawal bleed happens, and this is only 2 weeks since the last period. So could be a bit inconvenient for you, but then you should have a real period (or even a bfp) 4 weeks or so from when you stopped.

I'd heard stopping mid-way through is a good way of kickstarting your fertility, but I have no idea what (if any) science is behind that so feel free to take with a large pinch of salt!

Thank you so much to all of you. I was unsure this morning so took my pill... but will not take tomorrow's one Smile. Feel excited and scared - and full of apprehension. What lies ahead? Joy? Disappointment? Well, at least I feel alive again and not just waiting (whilst clock ticking louder and louder).
