Question about 1st day of period!

Hi, if my period usually starts late afternoon, very slowly with spotting and only really gets going properly the next day, would you count the late afternoon day as day 1 or the next day when it gets going (more of a flow than just spotting) as day 1?

TIA!!

Hi Girlsworld

I would definately count the next proper flow day as day 1 hun.

I agree first "proper day". I have the same thing, light spots the evening before, then wake up early the next morning to be greeted by a "proper day".

Oh, thanks! It's a quandary because I make a note of the spotting as day 1 but never very confidently... so I'm never sure if I am on day 1 or 2/5 or 6 etc etc. Am now TTC so it's all become a bit more important!

having said that, when I enter spotting on mymonthlycyles website, that seems to reset my cycle days. Doesn't matter so much to me, not charting, just trying to use ov tests and "make the most" of the two middle weeks between af and pms. every second day in those two weeks would ensure that even if your days were wrong you had an excellent chance. Shame if you have other things to do such as a job and cant ttc all day long.....

Toni Weschler says to count the first day that you wake up bleeding red blood as day 1.
