My question is....does a pregnancy test always work when u have the coil fitted?

Had mine fitted 18 months ago and although the test was negative I have what seems to be a bump appearing?? Did tests a few months ago cos was knackered and couldn't stop weeing and had a few more headaches than usual...they were negative too (prob did 3 in space if 6 weeks!!)

What do u think? Am I nuts? I know it's possible to conceive on Mirena...I just need to know if I can trust the test?

Thanks x

You should be able to trust the test. it shouldn't really be any different than conceiving on the mini pill, which doesn't affect tests.

Don't want to scare you but there is a higher risk of ectopics if you have a coil fitted, that might be one reason for negative tests and I know someone who had that on Mirena.(although in your case probably not if you think you have a bump it's likely to be growing in the right place!)
You should see a doctor to explain that you've done home tests but are still having symptoms. Preg tests are very reliable usually but you probably want to put your mind at rest!
