blood test for pregnancy

I am 14 or 16 DPO no sign of AF so I am going to get a blood test done(quantative HCG). If the results are negative does this mean I am absolutely 100% not pregnant?

I want to know as if I am not pregnant there are a number of test/medicines/stuff I want to do which I wouldnt if there was a chance I could be pregnant.

Don't know the answer I'm afraid but wanted to say 'EEEK'! Exciting! I'm keeping everything crossed for you!

I am no expert on the matter. however, i suspect, like preg tests there is always the possibility that there is not enough of the preg hormone to be picked up in the early stages of pregnancy. So, if it is negative earlier, there is always the chance that it could be positive later, as the hormones increase. Just common sense, I think.
Wouldn't it be possible for you to conduct the tests and stuff that you want to get on with, to be delayed until after 21 dpo- just to be on the safe side! Good luck x

Thanks for your posts,

results at 2pm my time (9pm for you)!

So 21DPO is DEFINITELY OK to assume results are correct?

Good luck MA X

MA I did a spot of googling for you and the eversoreliableiniternet, seems to suggest that a blood test at thhis stage is very unlikely to be wrong, but not totally out of the question. I'm not sure that helps. Sorry. Please let us know the results. Sending lucky vibes xxx

MummyAbroad · 23/09/2010 18:50

oooh, does help, thanks!

I think my plan is: 1. BELIEVE the results (this will be new for me, after so many BFN urine tests that I did way too early)

  1. Schedule all my stuff for past 21DPO

Ah sorry to hear that MA at least you know now and can get on with planning the next month and your medical tests without worrying. Hope AF pays you a visit soon, I bet you must have really started to get your hopes up. Are you sure you definitely Ovd? If you did AF must be right around the corner.

Wombat33 · 23/09/2010 21:28

oh pants. I was so hopeful for you. Still, does the fact you oved mean AF should finally be on it's way? That alone is something positive. Just bloody frustating it's not the type of positive we all wanted for you. Xxx

MummyAbroad · 23/09/2010 21:31

Thanks Kat

I am disappointed but also massively relieved that the 2WW has ended! Its pure torture not knowing!

I am taking my temps and got a nice clear shift, so I think I ovulated. Got positive on OPK too. FX Af doesnt keep me waiting long.
