I bought some cheapo amazon tests that were supposed to be really sensitive. I tested about 5 times over the course of a few days because I just felt 'different'. They all looked neg. Then I happened to see an earlier test I'd taken and the line was there - faint, but I could just see it in certain light. I went out and spent a tenner on a digital one and it was positive. The amazon ones stayed faint even when, after getting a positive on the digital, I tested again (well, I did have 15 of them!)

btw, I tried the digital one after my period was due.

nicky80 · 24/09/2010 17:25

yup I had the 'super sensitive' ones from e bay meant to predict well before a missed period. I didnt get anything for ages then the day before my missed period it was a very very faint pink line. I knew a line was a line but DH was not convinced. The next morning I used a sainsbury's own test and it was a thick red line instantly. Wait till the day you are due on and use another brand of test that way you can be sure. Dont give up until you come on your period as like I said I didnt get a BFP until the day I was due on! Fingers crossed for you! :-)

thanku tanmu82 and nicky80 ! My trouble is that there is a 2nd line-its just not where the pic says it should b. its peeking out from under the strip of paper (that has the arrows on and says max) where it meets the test strip (the 1 with the control line on). does that make sense? is it normal for there 2 b a line there even if ur not pregnant?

Hmm I am trying to think about where you are talking about but the line should come right near the control line on the bit of the test that is just white. Really you should only be seeing one pink line..the control line. I seem to remember the test line is pretty near the bottom but I wouldnt have described it as 'peeking out'. Its difficult to say without seeing it. I would just try and hold out as long as you can and get one with a 'test window' as there can be no confusion then. The sainsburys one I used was the clearest and it came up right away on the day I was due to come on. Good Luck!

WidowWadman · 24/09/2010 23:15

If it's not where the pic says it should be, then it's definitely negative. Sorry.

broodywantcoilout · 25/09/2010 07:57

thankyou u 2 :'(
heard back from the company that makes them, they sent me a photo of how it should look and said those are the only lines i should see and that every LOT is checked, just said 2 send them a pic. got 2nd line in the same place again 2day-so tho im thinking as u r on the negative side, still sounds a bit odd 2 me. will wait til monday 2 send a pic as i dont imagine theyre there at weekends and id just spend the next 2 days staring at my inbox!

omg! took 1st test since sat, was trying 2 find a good light to take a pic of test with the 2nd line on (shiny toilet seat with flash on camera def doesnt work!), when after a minute or so of trying (after the test was complete and had gone clear) i was waving it about and spotted an actual 2nd line in the correct place-i had 2 focus my eyes and keep looking again at it 2 check i wasnt imagining things!!! but after a couple of minutes (well, actually i dont really know how long as i got a bit carried away)...the 2nd line vanished, leaving just the 1 line!
so now i dont know if it got to the time limit where the test became invalid and the line went
or
if it was my imagination (tho focusing my eyes and keep looking back i doubt it)
or
it was something else and im not pregnant!!!!!!!!!!
now goin 2 wait until 8-9pm to retest, and try 2 take a photo 2 make sure its real!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

omg you must be soooooooo confused. How many DPO are you?

broodywantcoilout · 27/09/2010 19:08

i've been all over the place recently, even had a 2 day bleed (normally lasts 7days) a couple of weeks back when period was due (on a normal cycle), a couple of months back i had 3 or 4 periods in the space of 6-7weeks!-but that was the only time theyve been out of sync.
so i have no idea whats going on with my body, wether my 2day bleed was a proper period or quite what-so taking cheapo tests with confusing results makes my head a wee bit confuzzled!
only 1 hour 2 go.........

Well I shall be keeping everything crossed for you! :)

broodywantcoilout · 28/09/2010 14:29

thanks. took test, there was a 2nd line again-but i watched it move up the test, not sure wot it was but at least i know i can ignore it as theres no way a positive would do that. sent pic 2 company as they requested-no reply!
