my doctor has just put me on Cerazette after 3+ years on dianette.what should i expect from this pill ? he wasn't much help tbh in terms of how it would change AF and/or side effects. I'm now on the third day of taking it.

I had no side effects over 5 years, but search for it on here and you will find loads of people with different experiences

I came off it (after 5+ yrs of no periods/no PMT) and conceived in 4 months

I took cerazette for a while. In the first month I had serious pmt side effects (sore bbs for a few weeks) but that settled down very quickly. After a few months I had next to no bleeding whatsoever which was quite nice really. However you can't control AF on the minipill. She comes when she wants to, although she doesn't stay as long, so you can't postpone it like you can with normal pills because there is no seven day break. I thought it was quite a good pill really. I did conceive whilst on it though, but I am almost certain that was due to carelessness on my part.

Thanks CTC. kat2504,when you say careless do you mean not taking at the same time every day ? how strict do you have to be i.e exactly every 24hrs or is it ok +/- 3 or so hours?

thanks bc

careless as in missing a day entirely and not observing the 48 hour be-careful period as due to bank hol did not realise I had missed the monday, it felt like a sunday, was away from home, change of routine etc.

You do have to be more strict with the minipill but not so exact as some of the other brands. You can be 12 hours late maximum taking it and still be covered.

that makes sense alright .thanks for the information . should really learn to ask more questions when at the doctors!!

Absolutely hate this pill....more so as I've gotten older. Went on it after I had DD2 (she's now almost 7yrs old) and I was fine on it.....then had a break from it after a few years - was off it for about a year. Went back on it this Summer because my periods were getting a bit on the heavy side (more so down to my age - I'm coming up for 43) and I've just come off of it again. I felt extremely unhappy on it, very depressed, extremely angry to the point my kids were beginning to get really fed up with me :( and I bled from the beginning of July until last week when I finally stopped taking Cerazette. I now feel much better although am now suffering with anaemia (I'm very prone to that) but mentally I feel a lot stronger.

There is a thread on here about Cerazette and the dangers of mood swings/depression/anxiety etc that it can cause 'some' people.....me being one of them. I think to not have any side effects with this pill you must count yourself very lucky and fortunate. Good luck with it tho. It suits some but not all.

I was on this for 6 months after taking the combined pill for 10 years. The doctor put me on it as it was thought i had high blood pressure.
It caused terrible mood swings, i became very angry for no reason whatsoever. I believe it also caused weight gain which the previous pill hadn't.

I stopped taking it in August as my OH and i are going to start ttc next month. My periods are now back to normal but i get very sore boobs for 2 weeks in a month which i never had before. I would never take it again.
The only good point was i had no periods at all for 6 months while i was on it which i loved :)
