but if they don't come up does it mean you aren't pregnant? 3 days late and no pg tests available to me today and used an opk out of desperation. Thanks x

Not at all.

HCG and LH are similar on a molecular level, but OPKs detect a hormone surge (i.e. high levels), while an HPT detects low levels of hormone (as you get in early pregnancy).

You need a proper test!

Thanks HO - cycles still not that regular/reliable so have purposefully not bought any hpts, but couldn't help myself earlier.
