Long story short, have 4dc, dont want anymore within the next ten years had coil fitted last year.

For the last week I've noticed that my nips have been really tender, also had some stomach cramping for about a fortnight. Just checked in the bath and my f***g coil has gone!!!

DH is at work until 6am and i'm sat here shaking like a leaf. Please someone reassure me that i'm not pg and that the coil has fallen out rather than in as the thought of an op scares me more!!!

Just as things were coming together :(

I would try your very best not to panic yet. Get an emergency GP appt for tomorrow and get him/her to check for the coil properly.

When is your period due, could the sore nips be due to that and not poss pregnancy?

iliketosleep · 16/09/2010 22:13

I havent had a period since i had it fitted in december, I've had a VERY good feel, going as far as feeling inside my cervix, theres nothing. Oh god :( I have no idea how long its been gone for!

Sad

Poor you, try not to panic, could easily not be pregnant. Fingers crossed for you

summery · 16/09/2010 22:31

To try and reassure you, the strings of my last coil could not be found by me, 2 GP's, or the family planning clinic with a special 'tool' but it was still very much in place - they said the strings can sometimes flip upwards.

Hope this is what has happened but you need to see your GP and probably will need a scan to check where it is.

I don't think they can fall out easily (although I know this can happen)

Good luck.

JorrisBohnson · 16/09/2010 22:37

You've not had a period for 9/10 months? I'd be seeing the GP about that too if I were you!

summery · 16/09/2010 22:38

But she wouldn't necessarily have periods with a coil

JorrisBohnson · 16/09/2010 22:45

With a mirena, you're right, she might not, but that suggests the hormone from the mirena is working so the possibility of a pregnancy is very low.

iliketosleep · 16/09/2010 22:50

Yes sorry its a mirena, I had one fitted for 4 years before I had it taken out to try for DD4 and never had a period in that space. Thats why I love it so much!! Can they move up and down? As when he cut the strings they were very short, rather than being able to feel strings I could just feel the spikey edge of them.

iliketosleep · 16/09/2010 22:52

Oops DD3 DC4 Blush

OP posts:
summery · 16/09/2010 22:52

Yep, can definitely move up and down

popeonarope · 16/09/2010 22:56

They can tuck under the cervix where you cannot reach them. You would probably have noticed it in your knickers had it fallen out, they are not unsubstantial!

ChippingIn · 16/09/2010 22:58

If they were that short I am not suprised you can't feel them. It's easy for them to move out of the way.

Try to get some sleep - make an appointment for tomorrow.

iliketosleep · 16/09/2010 22:58

Then thats reassuring. Also thinking about it in my panicked state I just remembered. The stomach cramping i thought was a bug, well I had sharp pains in my lower abdomen when I sat down so found it difficult to go number 2 (really sorry for TMI!!!)Blush Well halfway through I felt something sort of slip, you know like when you have a heavy period and lose a clot? (really sorry again!) well it felt like that. I thought maybe I was coming on but when i checked there was nothing so maybe it was my coil falling out! If so then the good news is that DH hasn't been near me since!

(Cause he works nights, that sounds really bad lol)

popeonarope · 16/09/2010 23:01

Oh and they float if dropped in the loo (ask not how I know this) so you'd probably have even noticed that unless you blithely flushed thinking 'wow that'll be a stinker' without having a sneaky peek first (and who can resist?) Grin

DavidDickheadson · 16/09/2010 23:02

One would hope the pope could.

popeonarope · 16/09/2010 23:05

Ooh I can never resist peeking at my poo. That's why I had a special visualisation chamber fitted into the commode in my popemobiles.

iliketosleep · 16/09/2010 23:06

Haha Pope that made me smile :)

Yes I looked, for investigation purposes of course!! But all I saw was.....erm well you know lol I did say I felt it half way through so it could have been erm disguised......

Thank god I don't know any of you!! Grin

The Lord sees all Wink

If you only saw brown and no white thing that looked like it could be used to hold toys into their wrapping at toyrus you are fine. :)

KnitterNotTwitter · 16/09/2010 23:11

With my first coil I could never feel the strings - had to have a scan to check it was there and then it was fine. While they can fall out i think it's pretty unusual. Fingers crossed everything works out...

iliketosleep · 16/09/2010 23:11

I couldn't see water let alone white pmsl

iliketosleep · 16/09/2010 23:14
