Hi,

We were talking about this a lot on the charting thread and thought it would be good to start a separate thread.

There's about 3 of us at the moment but please do join us too if you are TTC with this added probem.

My results were 9.07 and then a few weeks later 5.5. I'm due another blood test in 5 weeks and hopefully my GP should be starting me on Thyroxin soon.

Quite worried cos the NHS guidelines say your numbers should be a lot lower when pregnant. still i haven't got that BFP yet so I guess I'll worry then.

ladygonegaga and Bessie26 - hurry up and join me here Grin.

Hi bessie am now on 9 DPO and still nothing but a significant drop in temp this morn below coverline so am just waiting for AF to appear now - dont know how long lf normally is - that fertility friend is bloody confusing :/

bessie26 · 19/11/2010 15:22

louin I think LP is generally between 9-16 days, but yours will be the same (give or take a day) every cycle, so once you've done a couple of charts, you will know!

iggy I would think of the OPKs as being useful guidance, rather than gospel! And ditto everything ladyggg says about delays between surge & O and temp rises... Is this your first cycle charting too? Unfortunately you need to have a few charts under your belt, before you can start seeing what's "normal" for you.

Also... not Oing isn't necessarily an indication of impending menopause. I've not O'd before due to sickness, & things like travel & stress can also confuse things too. Or it could just be a one-off wierd cycle!

You can still get pg with SWI just after ovulation, so I'm afraid you're going to have to keep at it for a while Wink - not long now until you'll be on the 2WW!

Louin · 20/11/2010 15:12

I would share your concerns, maybe nurse for taking blood tests but how can he/she increase dose? Prob nurse is for tests and saying all is well, and then you'd have to come back to see a doctor if changes required. An extra faff.

My temps rose a wee bit for two days, and this morning back down again Sad. On day 18 now. Opks come up positive every month around day 13. Fedupfedup. At least it looks like I can drink at the MN christmas meet up!

louin be patient! you are just going to have to wait & see if the temp rise/fall are significant! Fx for you!

super I had to see nurse/midwife-type lady to do tests & fill in all the paperwork before I saw the consultant. (although I did see them both on the same day) Perhaps you'll get to see the consultant another day?

Seems odd, Sunny. I've never been seen by a Thyroid specialist though. When I was pg with DS I was put under consultant led care because of the Thyroid though (but a obs/gynae consultant) and they did monitor a lot more closely. I guess you would prob be able to speak to a Consulatant still if had any concerns or your levels changed? Are you under Consultant led care for Maternity?

I've not got my booking appt for another 4 weeks so will see what they say to me then.

spilttheteaagain · 21/11/2010 19:20

Hi all,

I've just been tested for antithyroid antibodies (results due this week) and wondered if anyone would be willing to share their test results so I can get an idea of numbers and what they mean?

Is there such a thing as a "normal" range, or is it a case of any antibodies are a bad thing?

Thanks!

supersunny it depends on your nurse. I am seeing the nurse practioner to get my results, and apparently she is part way between a nurse and doctor and can prescribe etc

iggiii · 21/11/2010 19:41

You could go back to your GP to express concerns or even just to ask them to clarify what's going on, if you have anything to worry about.
Trying to pull damaged body together for more SWI but heart isn't in it! No egg but EWM gone. God I bore myself sometimes.
Split I don't think I have been tested for antibodies, or if so I don't know the results, so sorry not much use for you!

bessie26 · 21/11/2010 20:45

split I have been tested for antibodies, but mine came back "normal" so didn't enquire as to what the numbers were. I think there are a couple of ladies on here who do have the antibody thing, so hopefully they will be able to tell you soon.

sunny I am "consultant led" (partly because of thyroid, but also because DD was prem) but he is a obs/gynae consultant rather than being anything thyroid specific. (I have never seen any kind of thyroid specialist).

Perhaps your thyroid-consultant doesn't need to see you during pg, because you will be seen by a gynae-consultant instead? All very strange anyway - hope the nurse can clear it all up when you see her.

pg all fine thanks. MS gone now, and I think the recent increase in thyroxin has made me much less tired, so am glad to be getting on with stuff for a change!

iggy - you poor thing! it sounds like you & your DH have been hard at it this cycle! FX you don't have to do that again for a year or so Wink - why do you think no egg though?

iggiii · 21/11/2010 22:14

Glad you are feeling a bit better Bessie, it is so tiring being pg never mind with a thyroid disorder! Don't feel you have to do too much just because you've got a bit more energy, mind you!
I thought no egg as my temps haven't risen the way they do in my fertility book. Put all my details into fertility friend on line, and it claims I ovulated at day 11, 3 days before the OPK was positive!
Think I'll go back to my state of ignorance, which got me pregnant so much more easily the very first time! If I wasn't 40 I'd be a lot more relaxed about it all Sad Smile

bessie26 · 21/11/2010 23:20

Oooh iggi share your chart! (I charted for a year last time & kinda miss it now I've stopped!)

Don't worry, I'm not getting carried away with doing stuff, it's just nice to be able to do something other than sleep or feel sorry for myself when DD has her afternoon nap! (I made soup yesterday Smile)

LadyGoneGaga · 22/11/2010 10:21

I made soup yesterday too, Bessie!

Yes, share your chart, Iggi. FF often gets confused for a few days.

iggiii · 22/11/2010 12:51

Well in the interests of scientific research I think this will link to my chart..

Please do not feel obliged to look at this!

Think I will have to change from oral temping next month in case that's the problem. I'm a definite mouth-open sleeper!

(Off to make soup in case that's the trick for getting pg!)

LadyGoneGaga · 22/11/2010 12:56

Ah, I see it has now changed it's mind to day 15! That makes more sense.

bessie26 · 22/11/2010 13:29

CD15 looks reasonable to me, OPK, temp shift & dry up all happening at appropriate times. FF needs 3 days of temps above the coverline before it can make it's mind up for sure.
Your temps are quite up & down , assume you are managing to take them when you first wake? At around the same time?

iggiii · 22/11/2010 13:46

Thanks guys I feel very - er- close to you now you've seen the details of my cycle! Grin
When I put in today's temp the line moved.
Have been doing it on first wakening, so 4 in the morning ish. One or two temps are from 7 or 8am.
Awful thought to be sticking thermometer anywhere else at that time of the morning, but I think I'll switch to that for next month's cycle.
I'm getting more interested in what my graph looks like than actually being pregnant. Maybe that's the distraction my mind needs!
Hope you are both having a pleasant day :)

super I prefer to think of myself as being "special" Wink

iggi - which temps are from later in the morning? (I think if you enter the times into FF then it will show an empty circle rather than a filled in one of the graph?) - perhaps they are the funny ones?

I just had a look at some of my old charts and actually, I think once you've got a whole cycles worth of data showing on your chart it won't look so jiggly & really as long as you can see when you have O'd (so you can stop SWI) who cares what the rest of it looks like! Wink

off to make some butterbean soup now

essenceofSES · 22/11/2010 21:55

Hello! Do you mind if I join you? I'm ttc#2 having already got 18mo DS.
I was diagnosed with "borderline" underactive thyroid about 6yrs ago and when ttc#1 suffered 2 mmc which I'm worried were connected to my dose being too low. I'm currently taking 100mcg but when pg with DS this was upped to 250mcg.

I'm ashamed to say that one of my problems is remembering to take my dose each day - especially as I'm a pharmacist Blush

I also use CBFM and chart my temperatures. I'm not obsessed really!! I've been tracking my cycle since May but only managed to persaude DH to properly ttc since last month. This month I'm on CD 15 so just gearing up for some SWI as DH is currently away and I normally ovulate around CD 17 :)

Sorry - just overloaded you with info about me. I won't always be so self indulgent!

Ses

LadyGoneGaga · 22/11/2010 22:05

Welcome Ses. I think most of us have had mc on this thread - seems to be a bit of a correlation sadly.
