Hi all,
I just went to post on the old thread and noticed it had been locked, so here is a new one!
Come on in!

OP posts:
Horton · 29/10/2010 21:43

Hiya, iscream. Fine here, thanks. Hope you're well - what's happening with you? I'm currently ranting about child benefit all over the internet and drinking lovely wine.

Good luck, soontobe!

Italiangreyhound · 29/10/2010 22:02

Iscream it is no good hinting to men, they do not get it!

Lateatwork Well, pet wise, today I asked how much a turtle (big terrapin type thing) would be. Interested to know that a female would grow to about 12 inches and require a tank about the size of a sofa costing about £3,500!!!!!!!!!!! What pet do I want, a dog that someone else can look after some of the time and requires little walking but DH says no. So I really think a kitten/cat BUT again DH says no. I think I could persuade him on a hamster or possibly chickens as we would get free egg. I guess a house rabbit would be OK and might be the way to go! Confusing enough!

Love to all and chocolate boobs.

Biscuit Biscuit

Iscreaminchocolate · 30/10/2010 08:59

Horton - [hgrin] at your internet ranting!! Enjoy your wine - am envious!

Italian - got my cup of tea!

vallinnapod · 30/10/2010 09:50

Thanks iscream learnt very early on you sort of have to tell them their job! Protocol wise, the dr actually explained long to us, it was the nurse who then confused things by suggesting, without checking, it could be short. Once dr spoken to again it was clarified. It's no real issue. 2 weeks in the grand scheme of things is nothing Grin

GL soontobe

Italian--My next pet is going to be a mini-pig. That is, when I move to a bungalow with a nice size garden. But it's impossible to find a big enough bungalow to retrofit for DH, but I'm always looking! Thanks for the compliment. I don't know if I'm so strong...I knew what I was getting into marrying a man in a wheelchair. Believe me, it's rough going sometimes, but I take the tough love approach. 'If you did it by yourself before we got married, you can do it by yourself now'. It doesn't go over so well half the time, but that's marriage, isn't it?

Val--You're at The Bridge? I had a bit of confusion going on in the beginning of my first cycle, but once it got sorted, they were on the ball. I'm in on Monday for my follow-up. I'm also still giggling over 'arsebiscuits'...tee-hee!

Soontobe--Good luck sweetie. I hope everything goes really well.

Late--I have my initial consultation at ARGC on December 8th. How are they treating you over there?

That's about it really. Skyped with my twin sister and saw my gorgeous nephew walking! He just turned one a couple of weeks ago. How's this for supportive? My sister told me that she wasn't going to try to get pregnant a second time until I was pregnant with my first. Hopefully that will happen in the next six months. If not, I'll tell her to go for it!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Italiangreyhound · 30/10/2010 17:53

Lissy are you kosher, are pigs OK as pets for Jewish people? No,I'm not being sarcastic! Also, DH found something on the Internet to suggest that the teacup pigs are not well breed, that when fed normally they can grow to the size of a retreiver dog!

Anyway, I am sure it will be a dog for us one day!

DD just spent about 15 minutes looking at dog leads in shops with me repeatedly saying, "We do not have a dog!" She is going to a Church party, not a Halloween party but still fancy dress and, guess what, she wants to go as a dog! She has the mask and suggested I could 'sew' a costume! I politely said I could not, I think she will be a pirate!

Love to all.

BB, there are several options for downregging including daily injections as well as one big one, and of course the nasal spray. I'm sorry you had a bad experience on a long protocol but thankfully that really is quite unusual. Hope this cycle is going better. Smile

morning all...

have booted DD and OH out the door so I can watch the last Dexter in series one... I am sure someone suggested it on here and now I am completely addicted... so thank you!

soontb thinking of you!

italian i probably sound like your OH... think its a nice idea to have a pet...BUT....

lissy am being treated really well at argc... although initial appt took ages (so be prepared...)... you have to complete a couple of docs and read some material. The walls are jammed packed with baby photos and there are people everywhere. There is water available (our wait was loooong so if like me you like to snack i would bring some...) Our appt was good i thought. He went over things that i needed more info on (so I could write...) we then spoke to the nurse for ages too and she explained all the fees etc We never felt rushed.

BOH thanks for the tip! i think that will be essential for some sort of routine and support. Did you take time off work over that time? I live in central london but work just outside an am wondering how long you are needed in the clinic when you go in at 730.. is it realistic to think i would be out by 0900 latest?

BB sending positive egg thoughts your way..

vallinnapod · 31/10/2010 13:11

Iscream - I could have just done 5 days of Nothisterone but it made me really water retentive the last time I took it so didn't want to take it this time. At the end of the day the pill did the same thing so could have 'saved' myself two weeks!!

Lissy - yep, at the Bridge.

BB - thanks for the heads up! DH already planning on moving out Wink Huge luck with the EC

Hmmm lost my pill packet. Only three left to take. Am sure it doesn't matter as it is just to give me a bleed and I have done 18 out of the 21....

LissySilver · 31/10/2010 16:47

Italian--Pigs are not kosher for eating, but ok for petting! Not that it's ever going to happen, mind you. The good ones are £1000!

Late--Glad to hear ARGC are nice. I'm sure we'll have a lot of questions, so it's nice that they don't rush you. Dexter was me, btw, isn't it awesome? I am going to watch some now on sidereel.com, they have every single episode!

Love and laters!

Hi all. Follow-up appointment at The Bridge this morning at 11. Starting to feel a bit overwhelmed about costs for next cycle. You see, this is going to be an expensive year for us. First coming up is my visa. I have to apply for indefinite leave to remain, and that's going to cost £1100. Then there's the IVF/ICSI cycle which is going to cost who knows what. Lastly, my brother is getting married in Hawaii in April, and that's going to cost us around £5000. I only work between 20-25 hours a week, and DH works 30. I know my in-laws are going to help us with the cycle (again! Such saints!), but the rest of it is freaking me out a little...

vallinnapod · 01/11/2010 11:17

Lissy - may see you there, am in at 11:30 Grin

Money is scary...really scary...we have had no idea how we could afford most of this so far (parents have helped so VERY lucky) but I think me cutting down on alcohol has helped Wink

Keziahhopes · 01/11/2010 12:55

Gosh Lissy - agree that is expensive year - but on a positive could be an amazing one too, if all goes well Smile

Have some better news today - my Gp has phoned up and "sort of" apologised! Not entirely sure what happens next, but a glimmer of hope of getting treatment but I doubt the clinic will schedule us in for this year now due to Christmas and my cycle dates.

vallinnapod · 01/11/2010 14:04

Kezia that is potential good news Smile

I realise Christmas is tricky for Clinics with people taking time off but surely this just creates a huge January backlog?

Italiangreyhound · 01/11/2010 19:32

Lissy wow an expensive year! But Hawaii sounds nice.

Keziah so pleased for you.

Iscreaminchocolate · 01/11/2010 20:25

Hi Ladies,

Keziah - that sounds like a start in the right direction!

Lissy & Val - hope your appointments went well today - did you bump into each other?

I have a MONSTER headache at the moment as I'm on my 3rd caffeine-free day. I thought I'd get off more lightly than this as I've only been having one cup of tea or coffee a day for the last 2 weeks. I'm going to stick with it though as I don't want to go through this again!!

Going to slope off to bed now....

Good night! xx

Keziahhopes · 01/11/2010 21:58

Hope your headache goes Iscream...

We had a phonecall from the Unit manager later on today - we have an appointment with a consultant for the end of November. Smile - thanks for encouragement!

LissySilver · 01/11/2010 22:08

Not sure if I saw you Val. I arrived at 11.30 quite frazzled, as my appt. was at 11 but there were dreadful delays on the tube.

Italian--Hawaii DOES sound amazing, and I wouldn't miss my brother's wedding for the world! Just stressful when there's so much else going on...

Iscream--I can't even imagine the headache. I stopped drinking caffeine (apart from the odd soda or iced tea)a long time ago. The caffeine started to whack me out, making me feel super jumpy.

Kezia--Yay you! Good luck with the appointment!

Didn't get much news from the consultant, sounded more like she was making excuses than saying anything constructive. My AMH levels were below average, husband had poor quality sperm (even though they told us in the beginning that it was fine), I responded poorly to the drugs, blah blah blah. I'm even more convinced that ARGC is the place to go, as they would've forseen and taken care of poor response to the drugs. Still, CRGH open evening on Tuesday...

Italiangreyhound · 01/11/2010 23:29

Lissy all the best, hope it all works out!

keziah you go girl! Whoopi!

So weird thinking of you guys Lissy and Val meeting up!

Iscream keep with it, it will go. I suggest drink plenty, take a few herbal teas from Pukka, you will be so excited to try all the flavours you will forget your headache, with names like purity, detox and love, what more could you want (detox is my fav).

There is a fanatic old comedy on at about 4.00 a.m. tonight/tomorrow MORNING on Channel 4; it is called Kind Hearts and Coronets. I can recommend it.

Had dietician appointment today. She said I needed to help myself in round about terms and then said something like, ?You owe it to your baby.? So weird to think of an actual baby! Of course there is not, still just an idea in my head! DH and I talked pets. He is adamant he does not want one yet! Except a hamster. So need to convince DD she wants a hamster!

Sorry not to name check, a bit tired.

Love to all.

Italiangreyhound · 01/11/2010 23:35

Sorry that should be fantastic and not fanatic!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I know Lissy and Val may not have met but I was just thinking it would be cool. In reality those famin' appointments are so stressful the last thing you want to be thinking about is meeting up before-hand! Maybe afterwards I would like to chat about it all!

vallinnapod · 02/11/2010 10:33

Lissy we must have just missed each other. Got there bang on 11:30 and straight in and out with the nurse.

I am not adverse to seeing anyone here in RL, although I think the beauty and honesty of these boards do come from the anonimity...

Some great period pains here so fingers crossed I can start sniffing today or tomorrow.

vallinnapod · 02/11/2010 13:13

Am bleeding!! Wooohooooo!! Dancey Dancey!! Wooo hooo!! Grin

Going in for a scan tomorrow. Now told being told on short protocol Hmm....oh well. Off to sniff Grin
