How long does the pill take to wear off?

This probably sounds like a stupid question, I know you can get pregnant by only missing one! But I read somewhere that for some women it can take up to two years for it to leave their body entirely.
We plan to start ttc in December. It took us 2 years ttc for ds. I don't know whether it was anything to do with the pill (although I was 3.5 stone heavier so that could also be the reason?). Ds is now 2.2 and i really don't want it to take that long this time.
Should I wait until we ttc to come off the pill or stop taking it now and use condoms instead until then?

Personally I would come off it now and use condoms. Some lucky people get pregnant straight away, but I have been off it 5 months and still no period. Having said this I might have PCOS which could have delayed my period returning, but test results have been inconclusive.

Became pregant before first peiod after stopping! But I was very lucky. It is impossible to predict these things though so just go with what feels right for you.

I would definately come off the pill. I stopped taking it Nov 2009 and have been TTC since then. GP says the pill is still in my system as my hormones levels aren't right. Feels like an agonising wait until Nov this year before GP will do any more tests.

Pill leaves your system very quickly after taking the last tablet.

Yeah, I've heard some woman are put on pill for a short time because when you come of it get a woosh of hormones that aid conception.

I've heard that the pill leaves your system quickly. If you have problems when coming off the pill, it's because you already had them and the pill masked it.

I became pregnant before first period after stopping Cerezette. I've also heard that you're very fertile as soon as you come off the pill- not sure how long this initial fertility lasts for.
My mother was the same actually, came off pill waited 1 month and then pregnant the next month for both my sister and I.

I came off the pill in the May, didn't get pg until the following January.

In between I came out in horrendous acne, like I've never had before or since, so giving up the pill clearly did something odd to my hormones. The moment I fell pg the spots vanished.

Sil conceived within first month three times. I conceived after five months.

I came off the injection and it took 11 months to conceive, no contraception for the second, Came off the mini pill and got pg before my first period with the 3rd. We have now decide to go for number 4 however I have been on Micogynon 30 for 3 years so am waiting to see how long it takes.
