When did you conceive your DD?

Hi

DH and I have decided 'to hell with it' and have ditched the condoms and are going for DC3!

I have 2 lovely DS's already - aged 5 and 1.5

We would both love to have a DD...even though we would be happy with another gorgeous son of course.

Was wondering whether anyone out there would like to share how they conceived their DD?

I tend to have a 30 day cycle and we did the deed on day 17 this month in the heat of the moment but now I am thinking 'what if that is it?' I think I tend to ovulate between day 15-18.

If we happened on the exact o day...I may well be greeting another little hero!

Any stories?

From what I remember from my degree male sperm swim faster but die quicker and female sperm swim slower but die later, so to conceive a girl you need to have sex a day or two before ovulation so the female sperm have time to get there but don't die. Sort of. Roughly. Also if you already have 2 boys there's an increased liklihood of a third boy, but for the life of me I can't find that study. Does your DH have a lot of girls in his family? That can impact the sex of his children.

Disclaimer - I think :)

I thought it was all in the genes, and there wasn't much you could do about it???

I conceived dd on the day I ovulated.

Your chances of having either gender remain pretty much the same. See here.

"If you have had 2 or 3 boys, you are only about 2% to 6% more likely to have another boy"

The male sperm swim faster and die quicker thing is true. And you can tip the balances of probability but it doesn't sound like you know when you ovulate so is hard to know really.

Thanks ShowofHands...that was an interesting website to read!

I ultimately believe it is just pot luck what you get...but can't help but wonder....

My DH is from an all BOY family, I am from a family of 3 girls/1 boy. My DH's 2 brothers both had baby girls. So why I ended up with 2 boys, i don't know. Maybe I am balancing out the gender of the grandchildren! Smile

Anyway, anymore stories would be really interesting!
