Quick question about agnus castus

I started taking agnus castus this month in sheer bloody desperation at our total inability to have dc3. However, I thought I'd heard that it shouldn't be taken when pregnant so I've stopped taking it for 2ww (in the same way that I don't drink, have caffeine, etc. in 2ww).

I've now read that it can take 3-6 months for the benefits to be felt so I'm wondering whether it's something I should be taking continuously and whether by having a break from it each month will eliminate any positive effects.

Can anyone tell me whether it's safe to take whilst ttc, bearing in mind that means you could be taking it in early stages of pregnancy without knowing?

Hi Prinpo,

I'm not an expert but, as I understand it, I think it's fine to take AC as long as you stop during the 2ww because it can supress levels of oestrogen which obviously need to increase once an embryo has implanted.

It's still effective though in terms of increasing FSH during the follicular phase.

Good luck!

Hi there

I read that it's a good idea to stop TTC for a couple of months and take it all the way through your cycle but then when you do start TTC again you can cut it back to just taking it up to ovulation. Though understandably stopping TTC is not often an option for everyone.

Thanks both for your answers - good to know I'm not imagining the need to stop taking it for the 2ww.

Duelling, stopping ttc would probably be a good idea for the sake of my sanity Grin but I'm a bit of an old biddy and time is ticking by...

Thanks again.

I've been taking agnus castus too. I have plowed the net and i'm taking it from the first day of my cycle up until ovulation, then i stop until next cycle.

I know a few people that swear by it and my sister even had twins. It is however linked with miscarriage which is why it should not be taken after ovualtion incase you are pregnant.

I'm only on cycle 2 since starting to take AC and hoping that this month will be the month.

Fingers crossed

my acupuncture lady recommended it to me to sort out my wonky cycles & told me I could take it until I got pg. (My pills also say that you shouldn't take it while bf.)

I have also been told that it doesn't really matter about taking things like this during the 2ww as it can't get across to the placenta until later. Please don't ask me for any more details, as I can't remember Blush - all I remember is someone said you could "drink until it's pink" (i.e. you get your BFP!)
