Time for us to move home again ladies!

Keziah I am so glad to hear that you are much more positive. From what you have said, it seems that your GP was concerned about the effect treatment might have on you, not your child. However, the submission of his evidence has fed through in perhaps an unintentional way. Perhaps all he meant was that he thought treatment should be delayed, but this has been misinterpreted. It certainly sounds like you have a very strong case for appeal so I wish you all the luck in the world. One day you are going to be a brilliant mum! Smile

Fedup I am really sorry but I disagree with you. Nothing goes through Parliament quickly and I think in Keziah's case it is a GP that was completely unaware of the law that caused the distress. The only reason not to treat is if there is likely to be significant risk to the child. His views that Keziah "might not cope with a failed cycle" are not, in this case, relevant.

2008 is not that long ago in terms of the law, and sometimes a delay is a good thing. If Enoch Powell had got his private members' bill through in 1985 then IVF wouldn't even have become available in the UK. He had a huge amount of support against IVF at the time from ill-informed MPs working on "gut feeling". A brilliant bit of politics by Deniis Skinner meant that his bill wasn't heard (Skinner believed in IVF, but knew it didn't have support so he drafted a speach that lasted two hours that took precedent over Powell's - he cleverly used a by-election writ that takes precedence). Skinner recognised it was too early to discuss IVF. Legislation from 2008, given the current climate it would be on the back burner for a long time. At the end of the day, 2008 was the first new legislations since 1990 and think how much things had progressed since then!

I understand the point you are making about case-law and testing the legislation BUT appeal at this level would take a long time (even with an MP on your side), and won't be necessary if Keziah's GP changes his mind now that he is aware of the potential consequences of his actions with respect to her job and is informed about his lack of knowlege / misunderstanding of the Code of Practice. A retraction and secondary evaluation from the GP in the next month would mean that Keziah would start treatment in January.

Sorry Fedup I really don't want to be controversial, but Keziah needs a fast resolution. I am sure you can appreciate that (I do understand the point you are making and agree that legislation does need to be tested when appropriate).

KnackeredCow · 22/10/2010 22:45

Sorry for typos - feeling a bit too animated about the whole ethics of fertility treatment Blush

fedupttcnosuccess · 23/10/2010 08:31

No KC, please do not apologise. I understand completely where you are coming from. I was just too furious on kezia's behalf and jumped head first. You are right, ultimately Kezia needs treatment FAST: and the fewer hoops she jumps through the quicker she arrives at a solution. I am sorry if I misread the intentions or misjudged the situation.
Hope that everyone is well, and agree completely with kezia that we need a BFP soon on here to cheer us all up a bit. xxx

Somebody needs a BFP soon.... We need to cross everything girlies (Except our legs as that would make BDing rather difficult).

hey everyone
I am on CD 7 and started my testing yday, fingers crossed it works!! When I get (hopefully!!) a high reading when is it the best time for BDing? is it straight away or 24hrs after the reading?

Congrats Emmy :) thats fab news. You give me some hope for a possible bfp this month after a cp last cycle too, on 6dpo so another week to go. Hope it all goes ok for you and its an uneveventful 9 months.

Lychees sorry AF got you after your hopes were raised - rubbish :(

Keziah some good advice on here for you, glad you are not quite so dispairing in your last post - i am thinking of you and pray a solution comes to you soon.

Really hope everyone else is having a good weekend - very lazy day for me here which is great as i dont get too many of those.

notnearlyasblondasiwas · 24/10/2010 20:27

Congratulations Emmy, that is great news!

I am TTC #2, cycle #1, CBFM cycle 1, Age 33

Sorry if this is the stupidest question ever, but I am on my first cycle and I haven't had a peak, I am day 23 and have had 2 bars since day 6 - so what happens next? Does it drop back to 1 bar at some point and the book said something about m flashing. I read the book but it hasn't really sunk in.

KnackeredCow · 24/10/2010 22:20

Welol done Emmy. What wonderful news! Grin

Wishing you the very best for your pregnancy. xxx

MissLolita · 24/10/2010 22:23

Well done Emmy - it proves it does happen!! 2 days to go before AF due for me - I feel so emotional it's ridiculous. Secret Millionaire had me balling...

Starlet22 · 24/10/2010 22:53

Hello ladies

Sorry for the radio silence but have been on hols for two weeks (which was lovely, but sad to be back and NOT looking forward to work tomorrow ....).

Anyway, I have skimmed through the posts (there's been quite a few I see!) and just wanted to say Keziah that I am thinking of you and my heart goes out to you. I really don't know what to say other than I will keep you in my prayers and that there is some good advice on this thread re being proactive about taking things forward. Please stay positive and keep us updated as to how things progress.

Boba - just wanted to say I was sorry to hear about your blockage - on the positive side of things it's only your right tube. One of my friends had an overy removed when she was pregnant with DC1 and went on to have another 2 so fingers crossed for you and a BFP soon.

Hello to everyone else. Sorry I don't have time to post right now but thinking of you all and a big congrats to Emmylou !!

Hi All not been on for a couple of days busy weekend with weddings etc x

EmmyLou congratulations! That is fantastic news - am so pleased for you! Hope your good luck rubs off onto all of us as well FX Smile.

MissLolita I am so excited for you, its sounding really positive, you being so emotional etc, i really hope you get your BFP in 2 days time - would you do an early PG test or would you rather wait? xx

Lychees sorry to hear about AF.

I dont know what's worse, thinking you might have done it and been lucky and then getting AF or knowing you wont have and then having to wait another month - such a stress this baby making business.

The wedding was full of gorgeous cute babies and I really wanted be there with one too Sad xx

fedupttcnosuccess · 25/10/2010 13:07

Emmy: congratulations. Hope you have a happy uneventful nine months.
Lychees: better luck next cycle.
Hi everyone else, and good luck.
Emma: know exactly what you mean, it IS hard, hopefully before long it'll be your turn to be glowing and carrying a baby.
Sorry for short post: at work and on mobile. FX for everyone. x

AnytimeNOW · 25/10/2010 17:28

Hello Everybody, hope all ok...
Been reading and catching up on the thread...

Well, there's been some good news and some badSad.

Keziah I really feel for you and your DH, you are having the worst time...You so do not deserve the shitty card you are being delt!...I think if most of us are honest we have all had some for of depression, I know I have over the years, and at some point thought it would get the better of me.

This whole emotional rollercoaster of TTC takes its toll on the strongest of people! but for the love of god! you/me us are human! not super human.

After my two MC and a chemical inbetween so far this year, I am just about keeping my head above water...and some days really question myself and wonder if it's worth carrying on TTC?.

Stupid question really, as I don't think we choose to have this longing it's just so instinctive.

I am hoping and praying you find the right route for you both...X

Spent the day with my nephew who is 6 months old...he's so adorable, and I love my time with him, but always come away feeling a bit sad if that makes sense?...sorry think AF must be on her way! always a bad one after mc...Eeeyuck!, hope she hurrys up, actually for the first time this year will be glad when she arrives!...starting tests on 25th November at the recurrent mc clinic, so fingers crossed.

Sorry for the long post girls x

Lychees · 25/10/2010 21:03

Congrats Emmy!

Keeping my fingers crossed for you Lolita.

Anytime, hope tests = identifying issues = treatment = speedy BFP and H&H 9 months.

Notnearly, it is quite common for the CBFM to not give you a peak in your first month. It might go back to a single bar soon [low fertility]. And it will probably start flashing M on CD28, I think as it assumes a "normal" 28 days cycle. In the first few months it'll be recording your info to try and learn your cycle.

I am feeling strangely okay about not getting my BFP this month, despite the build up. So far, I haven't had the usual monthly emotional meltdown. One more month of trying and we'll be back to see our consultant about the next plan of action.

Just popping in to say huge congrats to emmylou - absolutely fab news!!!

Am not holding out much hope this month as only got my peak yesterday (day 20) after 10 highs. Seeing as my last cycle was only 26 days my luteal phase seems to be getting shorter [hhmm]

still, not giving up yet! Fx for everyone on the thread, hope we get some more bfps soon! x

KnackeredCow · 26/10/2010 10:31

Hi All

Sorry to hear that AF has got both AnytimeNOW and Keziah [hsad]

I have started to spot so I know that AF is on her way for me too and will probably arrive in full force on Wednesday or Thursday. DH and I had a row yesterday Sad because he said "it didn't matter", or something along the lines of what a bloke would say when trying to comfort you but making a real hash of it. I ended up sobbing and then wouldn't talk to him. How mature of me. Definitely PMT!

Izzy If it's any consoloation it's unlikely that your luteal phase is getting shorter. When ovulation is delayed, the luteal phase should stay the same and so your period will be delayed. If your peak was yesterday, we can assume that you're ovulating now. LP is the number of days from ovulation (not peak) until the first day of full flow of AF. If you have a LP on the short side of the normal range, then you can expect AF anytime from Friday 5 November (although you might have some spotting before then). HTH [hsmile]

Lychees Glad to hear that you are doing OK.

AnnamariaHun · 26/10/2010 13:08

Hi Everyone

Im using the Clearblue Ovulation monitor and this month it went peak straight away without showing high
Has anyobody experienced this and what could be the reason?

PS i have been using it every day so i've not missed any

Thanks for your help

StormBird · 26/10/2010 13:12

Hello Girlies......

Keziah Hi hun, hope you are ok, been reading through the posts again and just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you. Smile

Emmylou Congratulations I am so pleased for you and v. Envy at the same time. Well done hun and I hope you have an easy breezy PG.

Sorry to anyone who AF got this month!!

Well so far I'm pretty sure that we haven't managed to get it right this month so am fully expecting AF in a week or so. DP seems to think that I am obsessing a bit too much, but I think I've calmed down about it all recently. What does he know anyway LOL!!

I'm also starting to get the impression that he has never listened to me when I've explained about the female body and when we are fertile etc etc. This all came about cos last week during my peaks we didn't do it cos he was not in the mood or too tired (ooh I sound like a man LOL)but then yesterday he said he'd got some silly feeling that if we got down to business we'd end up getting PG and totally disregarded the fact that I, a woman, only has a 12-24hr window of fertility each month........what is wrong with him!!!!!! Its so frustrating.

Anyway, I'm wishing AF is on her way so that we can start again and maybe he will listen to me this time.

Don't get me wrong, I don't pressure him and he does ask what the monitor says etc. I just think sometimes he can be realy thick!

Well, sorry for the rant!! Hope you ladies are keeping well.

Will pop in again soon xxx
