I've had a productive morning. I've made a batch of sweet chilli jam. I made it last year and gave it as Christmas gifts so this can be my trial run for this year as it only lasts 3 months.

Onion marmalade, cupcakes and biscuits tomorrow. All I need now is some victims to try them on.......

Lychees · 14/10/2010 14:10

Emma, we're just one person down in our department so I've got a really heavy workload. It also doesn't help that there are three pg women at work [quite a lot for a small-ish company] and also that I envisaged myself being on maternity leave or looking forward to maternity leave right now.

I feel like I've put so much on hold ttc. No holidays, no changing jobs since I got qualified in March even though I could probably get more money [and do more interesting work] somewhere else, cancelled my gym membership ......

Sounds like you have a nice weekend planned.

Missyraines, all that cooking sound lovely. I haven't had lunch yet because I had a huge chocolate brownie for elevenses .... oops.

boba82 · 14/10/2010 15:25

Hi everyone

Not posted in an age so anyone I've missed sorry it's not that I'm not interested etc just soooo much to catch up on!

Lolita welcome & I really feel for your Blush at work!

Missy sorry AF got you, good luck this cycle. P.S. can I come live with you please, I LOVE home baking!!!

choccie re your Envy post, that was v v good advice & I will try and use it as 2 of my BF in RL are pregnant ATM.

Izzy sorry you felt bad after seeing GP, hopefully your acupuncturist'll sort you out.

essence sorry for AF

lychees I'm ok thanks, how's you? I'm a bit down as HSG revealed blockage in my right tube which they can do nothing about as it's scar tissue from an operation I had as a child. Wasn't expecting there to be any problems so it came as a bit of a blow. On plus side they've given me Clomid to start next week after I've had a bleed from progesterone tablets. I will be monitored on this for 3 months then have apptmt in Jan.

He suggested I go on list for IVF as it's 2 years long and I qualify now I have blockage. Hopefully it won't come to that. I'm really starting to feel someone out there really doesn't want me to have a baby. It just seems to be one thing after another. .

Hope everything's ok with you? x x

boba82 · 14/10/2010 15:32

P.S. Lychees we were putting everything on hold too but eventually decided to have holiday & did us the world of good. I think you have to go on with life as best you can. It's hard enough having no sucess TTC without everything else in your life suffering. x

OP posts:
EmmaC29 · 14/10/2010 20:56

Hi Lychees sympathise with you, luckily no one in my office is planning a pregnancy soon, not that, that doesn't mean one might fall accidently pregnant like you do! Keep smiling, we will all have our turns soon Smile xx

I think a holiday would do you the world of good, even if you just have a mini break somewhere in the UK. We've just been to a lovely B & B in Worcester, they welcome children and pets Smile let me know if you want the number xxx

Hi Boba sorry to hear about your blockage x Fingers crossed over the next few months for you xx

Keep Smile girls xxxx

essenceofSES · 14/10/2010 21:16

Hello! Wow I'm posting twice in 2 days!

EmmaC - sorry if I confused things with stats Blush I never seem to get chance to update mine in the mornings, hence the evening update yesterday. I think they're right now with MissyRaines update today!
Your wkend plans sound great btw, I'm a bit Envy !!

Boba - sorry for your HSG results but hope the Clomid will help :)

Lolita - welcome to the thread! I really sympathise with your predicament over Amazon delivery. I have a similar issue as I work for Boots and get staff discount. I have a field based role across East and West Sussex and there's not many stores that don't know me! I always try and go to a member of staff that I don't recognise :) I really should order from Boots.com to prevent the problem!

Lychees - ((((hugs)))) When ttc with DS, I got fed up with that feeling of everything being on hold. Just simple things like not buying new clothes as I planned to be too big for them after a few months. In the end I bought myself 2 new expensive suits for work and 2 months later I was pg!

MissyRaines - that sounds like a very productive morning!!

Storm - LOL at Sergeant Shagalot Grin

MissLolita · 14/10/2010 22:23

Hello everyone, lovely to hear all the updates - i got hungry from hearing about home baking, jealous of a weekend of pampering and I laughed at Sergeant Shagalot! Definately cheered me up after the last couple of days Smile

Izzy - looking forward to hearing about acupuncture

Boba - fingers crossed for you

I saw the postroom guy today and I smiled and behaved normally and he did too - Emma you could well be right and he didn't know what he was looking at - the Cleablue logo was definately on show but he isn't married and doesn't have kids so he may have assumed it was some sort of pg test which I am sort of more relaxed about (not really sure why though...) Ses I am following your advice and ordering from Boots.com and getting it delivered to a store in future - it may cost a bit more but it will save me the stress!

Having been shamed by Missyraines I'm off to crochet some Christmas decorations! Night all :)

My hubby is back today after 5 days away. Bloody typical, I get a job that means I'm home more and his company start sending him away. I plan on being a good wife and to feed him up on my home baking, have the house clean and tidy then seduce him for baby making duties. I'm only on day 5 so it may have to wait until next week.....

Misslolita I order mine online too. I too get embarrassed buying pg tests even though I'm a married 33 year old!

boba lets hope you won't have to wait the two years for IVF as you won't need it. I bet it's a relief to at least start the ball rolling. We really should as I'm 34 in Feb and don't want my age to stop us getting any free treatment.

lychees I hope you have a relaxing weekend and some time to sort your head out. It's important to take hols, even as emma says, a mini break. Maybe off load kid one to relatives or friends to make maximum use of peak times????

I bought two baking books and my plan is to do every recipe in them. I'll keep you all posted and if I'm not on here for more than a week something went very wrong!

EmmaC29 · 16/10/2010 15:32

Hi All, Welcome Birdie hopefully your stay on this forum will be a short one in a good way [smile).

MissyRaines my hubby works shifts and so I pray every month the special days don't land on his 'late shift' such a pain!! My monitor has been showing high since day 6 but as i ov on either day 12 or 15 (it varies each month) today, day 9 could be an important day!

Miss Lolita glad its a little bit more bearable at work, you just dont want everyone knowing your business do you x

I'm really hoping its day 12 for me this month, as day 15 will be Fri of next week and we're at a wedding 2hrs away in the morning, so the chances of getting on it Saturday night are going to be very slim after a 2hr drive back home late at night and a 6.45am get up for my DH on the Sun! Arrgghh!

xx

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 16/10/2010 15:39

Just a quick post to say hello

Lolita i am feeling all Blush for you, I would have been squirming!! However, as others have said, postroom guys must see all sorts of deliveries - yours won't be the most gossip-worthy to cross his path and in fact there's a high chance he didn't even register what it was. You will remember it way after he has forgotten entirely Smile

boba - sorry you didn't get more positive news at your appointment. However try not to feel down about the ivf referral - it's great that you can get "in the system" now. Chances are you will not need it but at least you know that it's there as a sort of back-up if you get that far.

Well my acupuncture was really good and I also got some good advice about diet and supplements etc. She thought the gp should have listened to my concerns about the luteal phase since short LP can be caused by lack of progesterone, so it's not as simple as saying, well length of LP doesn't natter because it's all down to progesterone. If that makes sense. Anyway she thinks she can help, the acupuncture itself was very relaxing and energising too iykwim, and I'm going again next week (she suggested twice a month). That was in day 9, then coincidentally on cd10 the CBFM went up to high - which is early for me, but could be good news seeing as my problem was ovulating on day 18/26. Trying not to get too excited because last month it did stay on high for ages so I could still ov late, but I think it's a good sign so far. Fx for a peak at a "normal" time if the month!

Have a good weekend everyone! x

alien06 · 17/10/2010 16:40

hey everyone :) Well my ERTD arrived so on first day of using the CBFM now, can I please join ? details are below

alien06 TTCno,1 cycle 4, CBFM 1 age 28 UCL 30-33 CD1

any advice on what the devil I should be doing with this CBFM now lol. have set it to day 1..

x

Keziahhopes · 17/10/2010 19:29

Hi waves to everyone - sorry not been around, stressful week at work, then got ill again with another bout of tonsillitis etc.

Boba - sorry about blocked tube, but great they already treating you with clomid ... and hope that works for you with your other tube. There may be an up to 2yr delay for IVF at that hospital, but you have the right to be referred to any hospital your PCT will fund - this is what I have had to do, after the consultant wouldn't even offer us clomid despite there being problems enough for our PCT to fund us straight to IVF!! Start injections on Tue. So if you getting clomid, I would think giving that time to work is helpful for you - and then ask about medicated IUI - because if they monitor you during that as long as you ovulate from the other ovary then you have great chance of it working. And if that hospital will not do anything for you and you meet pct criteria for ivf I would seriously look around for which hospitals you could go to with shorter lists!!!

Welcome Birdie and Alien*.

Alien, just switch it on every morning and one day the test stick symbol will be flashing up [normally CD6 in the first month of use]. Then, you'll need to POAS and put it in the CBFM for "analysis". You will normally then need to POAS everyday after that until it records a peak [three bars and an egg will show on the left of the screen when this happens].

We BD at least every other day once I get highs then on both my peaks and my high after the peaks.

Good luck!

Boba, sorry HSG showed a blockage. Hopefully Clomid will kick start and regulate your good side and then you'll have a good chance every other month. It's much better odds than some people have and they have still managed to conceive naturally. Fingers crossed for a BFP for you way before you reach the end of the wait for IVF.

AF is due for me tomorrow and I don't feel any different this month than any other so .... Next cycle we are going to try to BD every other night from the end of my period until the start of the next to cover off all possibilities [phewShock]. Then, if December arrives and we still don't have our BFP then we might be going back to the DR.

Hope everyone has had a nice, relaxing weekend.

MissLolita · 17/10/2010 21:03

Hi Birdie and Alien - waving hello- welcome!

I got my first CBFM peak on Friday morning - possibly the most exciting thing I've seen in a long time (and yes, I should get out more!) Since then we've been, ahem, giving it our best shot, to the extent that my dh started complaining today. Apparently he has feelings and can't just 'perform' or some other rubbish Smile Anyway we've tried our best so now it's a waiting game...

Feeling far more relaxed about the postroom incident - I told a very good friend this afternoon and she beat me hands down as someone in her office had a rampant rabbit delivered in a package that had become open in transit! She claimed it was a joke present but no-one really believed her! Grin

Izzy really interested about acupuncture - I might give it a go

Missyraines how is the baking going?

KnackeredCow · 18/10/2010 10:13

Hello All Sorry haven't posted for a few days.

We had a lovely weekend - some friends came to stay with their 18 month old. I thought I'd find it a bit stressful, but actually had a really good time.

Welcome to Birdie and Alien. I hope you don't need to stay on this thread too long. Not in a bad way, but I really hope you get your BFPs really soon. Smile

MissLolita PMSL at the rampant rabbit. Grin

Boba Sorry to hear about your blocked tube. Before your HSG had they asked about abdominal / pelvic surgery in the past? I do know that there is a link between surgery and infertility due to the possibility that adhesions (scar tissue that causes your organs to stick together) have formed. The reason why I ask is I had an appendectomy as a child for a perforated appendix. I was really poorly with it and formed an abscess which developed into diffuse peritonitis (infection of the abdominal cavity). I have been suprised that I haven't been asked for a surgical history as yet.... DH tells me I am worrying unnecessarily as he points out it could be him (he hasn't had his SA done yet), but I'm finding it hard not to imagine worst case scenario. I do know I need to improve my PMA, but it's hard when frustration and upset follow AF's monthly arrival.

Anyway, hello to everyone else that I've not specifically mentioned.

Hi KC. Yes they had asked about my history but didn't think it'd be a problem. My surgery was on bladder and bowel nearly 20 years ago. I totally empathise with the PMA & worrying. I am the bigest worrier ever and it's just not that simple to stop is it. I think you've been referred to FC haven't you? I would mention it to consultant then if they don't ask you.

Hi Boba - yes have been referred to FC, although first referral got rejected. GP had got confused over blood tests so I'd ended up having FSH / LH done on day 21! Confused I am quite frustrated. There'd been an error filling out the form for endocrinology. Am booked in on Wednesday to have progesterone done.

I will make sure I mention surgical history and peritonitis when appointment finally comes through. Thanks for the advice. It can be difficult to be assertive when in front of doctors - or is it just me who find this?

Anyway, on a lighter note, is anybody as addicted to Downton Abbey as I am? There was an article about it in the TV guide part of The Sunday Times. Apparently the death of the Turkish duke mid-bonk is going to lead into a story of intrigue later in the series. Wondered if anybody had any good guesses as to what might happen?

Hi KC I also had those tests done on day 21 last week?? I'm no expert but I'm sure it was the wrong day? and also this is a mc cycle...so checking progesterone is going to be totally out as I haven't ovulated!.

And yes I am really good at researching, and go all prepared...but when I'm in with GP it all goes tits up! I clock watch and worry I've gone over my seven minutes!...Hmm

Hi ljg

Yep my GP admits she got it wrong. The aim with progesterone test is to catch the peak 7dpo. On average most women ovulate 14 days before AF so the test should be done 7 days before AF due (probably not actually on day 21 for a good number of women). So with this in mind, it might help you calculate when you should have the test done. If they are looking at FSH / LH then it should be done on day 2 - 6 of your cycle. DH tells me that here they are trying to establish if a woman is perimenopausal and high levels in the follicular phase would indicate this. This test is less important if cycles are regular. However, I believe it's done if the IVF route is being considered as it is indicative of success rates.

Anyway my blood test was a complete waste of time (and money) to the NHS as it hasn't told them anything wrt my fertility.

So far my GP has managed to waste 1 double and 1 single appointment and 2 expensive tests by firstly using the wrong swab to test for chlamydia and secondly forgetting to ask the lab to check progesterone levels when my blood was taken (the lab doesn't do this automatically so the GP has to actually ask).

If GPs knew the guidelines better and didn't waste so many appointments, and stayed up to date with and read communications from the labs, then think how much money could be saved by the NHS....
