i want to donate my eggs but i have a son who ha autism, i believe my sons paternal uncle has autism though i have no contact with them so cant be sure and all they ever said was this person had learning difficulties so i dont know. anyway so on a genetic level if it is genetic i believe it would have come from my son fathers family as noone in my family has anything like that until my son however obviously i could not guarantee this and therefore would anyone want my eggs or would i even be allowed to donate them??? i really want to donate them but i guess i probably cant due to this, does anyone know for sure, or know how i would find out?

thanks in advance

I'm really not sure about the answer to this - I think it is best to approach your nearest IVF Clinic and ask for an information pack and maybe an appointment to see a doctor or counsellor there. If one clinic says no it is likely the others would do the same.

I donated my eggs at the lister fertility clinic in London as part of my own ivf treatment. I can honestly say that it's the most fulfilling thing that I have ever done and my husband and I feel really proud to have given two couples (ourselves and the recipients) the chance for a baby (I'm now 9 weeks and our scans show everything is lovely).

Due to the anonymity restrictions being lifted, couples requiring egg donation often have a 3 year wait.... and so if you are interested in donating then I plead you to see what a clinic say.

If you visit the Lister Clinic website www.ivf.org.uk , and contact the OD Nurses (a dedicated egg donation team) they will likely be able to tell you immediately on the telephone if Autism would prevent you from donating.... the girls are truly wonderful.

If you have any questions about what it's like, and what to expect, the just ask. I look back on my egg donation and ivf cycle with nothing but positivity and happiness.

I really hope it works out for you. Egg donation is a very special thing, done by very special people.

If you where to do an open donation I pretty sure the clinic can not accept, But if you knew some one wanting eggs and knowing the protential risk I sure many women including myself would be so grateful many clinics are more than willing to talk to you about egg donation. or there is things like fertilityfriends in the uk...

xx
