My mate has recently been diagnosed with endo. She is still having tests to confirm severity. But some utter muppet has told her that even a mild case of endo reduces fertiity to 7%!! I KNOW this is utter rubbish but what facts and figures or good news stories can I use to tell her it doesnt have to be THAT bad!

You can use me :) I was told I had endo about 4 years ago - I had a laparoscopy - and the dr said it would reduce my fertility . This year I got pregnant in january (first cycle of trying) - unfortunatly I miscarried but have just got pregnant again (second cycle of trying) :)

Unless this person who quoted 7% is a professor in gynaecology then I should tell them to keep their opinion and 'stats' to themselves! :)

Me too. I also have endometriosis and am a parent following surgery to remove the endometriosis deposits that had built up on my uterus.

moobaa - I was going to ask if you know what tests are being done to confirm severity. Endo is a weird disease all round really, it is usually only confirmed through a keyhole surgery op called a laparoscopy.

www.endo.org.uk is a good UK based website; I would inform your friend about this page.

The figure this person quoted her is rubbish, its simply not the case at all.

Hi

I was told - after investigative surgery, that I'd probably never conceive naturally..

I have 2 dc's here driving me mad as we speak Smile

Dc1 was conceived 1st month trying, dc2 took about 7 mth of ttc.

I did have some nasty treatments, 2 operations and a chemically induced menopause but was worth it all.

It is really important your friend can find a gynae she likes and trusts. Wish her lots of luck from me.

Thank you everyone. Its very hard to sit back and see someone torturing themselves in any circumstances. But when they have been given incorrect figures it makes it all the worse. I know how fertility worries can rule your life and its just not on to make people worry like that!
