Bleeding before positive result

Hi I hope someone can help, i recently had my 2nd cycle of IVF this time with blastocyst. We had two eggs transfered and all was OK until Saturday when I started bleeding, at first it was not very heavy and it looked like it could have been implantation bleeding but since then it has got heavier and more period like.

This morning was my test date and I got a positive. My question is what can i do to get the bleeding to stop and will this affect whether I will get a positive again if i test in a couple of days time.

Hi i am so pleased that i checked the unanswered messages section.

This exact thing happened to me april last year. On my first ivf cycle i bled afew days before test date, they made me carry on with my progesterone because clinic said it can happen.

I got my +ive and the nthey said had to wait for scan as too soon. I went to babybond for scan to see if they could see anything. they said at that stage that blood was not coming from uterus but couldnt see anything as too soon. had another a week later as bleed continued, found one embryo and bleeding coming from outside uterus. it finally died off when the progesterone stopped and i was about 12/14 weeks. my consultant said it may have been the progesterone but was never very worried as it was always outside the womb. a nurse said it could have been because i had scar tissue from removal of abnormal cells they basically never knew but a few months later a got my ds.

I did have 2 put in and only one stuck but who knows if it was that or anything else that they discussed. it was hard full of anguish but it can be ok!!!

so please put your feet up, dont make beds dont stretch up high or bend to the ground.( all old wives tales but followed all of them Wink no hot baths either. or lifting heavy shopping bags

My bleeding always slowed down if i put my feet up and always came after a school run when i was up making dd her tea (non ivf baby who is about to be 10) i also swopped to tesco/asda delivery and got them to bring shopping into kitchen and put it on surfaces so not bending.

Sorry i am rabbiting on Hmm i do that alot. maybe its good to get things off my chest.

i carried on testing for days with the clearblue digital which shows the change in weeks so you know hormones going up.

can also go to early pregnancy unit at hospital and they can do hcg blood tests every 48 hours to check its going up.

i do hope all goes well for you and your little beans are ok!!!!

Lots of hugs

Hi Pinkie08, thank you so much for your message, I have been googling all day to find something regarding bleeding before rather then after +test but to no avail. I'm so glad you did check the unread messages because you have really helped me stay positive about it

I have noticed that when I rest the bleeding slows and almost stops completely. I had my last progesterne on Tuesday night before bed and haven't had any since, so hopefully that may help.

The IVF clinic said that I had to wait till next wednesday and send them the test results and if I am still bleeding then they will have to do a blood test. I may see whether my GP will do one before then, I don't know if I can wait that long!!! I've waited 5yrs of TTC to get to this stage....must remind myself to still be patient.Smile

I really do get it, and its the inpatience mixed with the anxiety that makes you feel that way. alot of hospitals have early pg units and they will def do bloods for you. they did with me. they take the first one to see what level the hcg is at and then about 48 hours later they do it again to see how it increases. that at least is only a 48 hour wait. Where abouts are you, do you know which hospital might have a unit??

Deep breath and keep thinking positive Smile thoughts. if you are resting you cant do any more!!!

I'm in West London I'm at Hammersmith IVF unit for my treatment, I have no idea which hospital would have one of those units, I wouldn't even know where to start,

last night rested and put my feet up and as a result had very little bleeding, today I've come into work and although 90% of my time I am sitting with my feet up under my desk, I have stomach cramps and the bleeding has started again. Luckily next week I already have the week booked off, I don't how I will handle this if it continues till week 12/14...

Sorry for rambling, Smile S x
