Perhaps you were being tested for some other stuff too. They don't always make it clear and, in my experience, you have to ask the right questions. When I had my tests, I asked the nurse who took the blood to write down what I was being tested for. Why not give them a call and ask what tests they were running? Then you can spend the day Googling!

She took 11 tubes on my 21 day thing. What's it all about??!

BrassicaBabe · 02/09/2010 12:14

And I bet each tube gets sent to a different department where they each only use one drop. Can't they just share?! Grin

BagofHolly · 02/09/2010 12:55

That sounds about right for several of the clotting/immune profiles! If you ever have to go for the full "Chicago" tests, be warned, that's 17 vials! I always ask for a butterfly needle. Hurts less.

I work for the society of expressive punctuation. Please try and limit the number of exclamation marks you are using in one thread as we're heading for a serious shortage. 22 so far in this thread and it seems a bit greedy.

So, all tests fine?

How long have you been ttc?

jerzygurl · 10/09/2010 11:26

my bad? smacks hand...im far to expressive arnt i :)

It must be hard for you. It took me 14 months to conceive, had a miscarriage and then went on to conceive dd a few months later.

It's good that they're investigating. Of course there is still a significant chance that there is nothing wrong with either of you. And I know it's on the top 10 list of crap things people say (I heard it many times too), but the ability to get pregnant is a very, very good thing. That's half the battle. Sadly, the other half is just as hard but it does count for something. Has your dh's sample been looked at at all?

ShowOfHands · 10/09/2010 11:33

I am so sorry about your first two babies. I wasn't clear enough about that.

jerzygurl · 10/09/2010 11:41

it has been hard..losing 2 lil ones and a mother in just over a year..but thankyou x

Oh i feel lucky they even took me seriously with my age etc.after the first scan where i learnt the lil one had died the doctor asked me did i really want it considering my age etc..thankfully i was numb at the time to truly realise how horrid the doc was being..so when we first went to the docs i thought they would just turn me away..

Hubbys sample was checked..and Doc gave us the results didnt say if they were okay just that it wasnt his field and now we have a fertility clinic appointment..ive tried to look up and im sure they dont look good.. :(

The Doctor said they would probably retest hubby at the clinic..so we shall see?

Im being positive tho ..with my age and if hubbys swimmers arnt good its pretty amazing we ever fell..once let alone twice right ?

:)

That doctor sounds like an utter prick. You deserved better than that.

You lost your mum too? I'm so sorry. I was listening to a R2 show yesterday about losing a parent and the grief was palpable. It doesn't lessen as a feeling. What a shocking time you're having.

I'll keep an eye out on here for how things go in October. Wait and see what an expert has to say.

Yes, you getting pregnant twice (at any age with even the spectre of fertility issues) is absolutely amazing.

I wish you a lot of luck.

ShowOfHands · 10/09/2010 11:49

Thank you. Smile DD is a bit special.

jerzygurl · 10/09/2010 12:03
