Hi, Wondered if anyone else is embarking on testing after recurrent miscarriages and would like to be my buddy for the ride??

I'm having my 4th m/c right now (got a scan tomorrow as I started bleeding at what I thought was 7 weeks but measured 5wks - I know I'm loosing it as I've had 3 miscarriages already after 2 fine and dandy pregs)

I saw an NHS consultant after 3rd m/c and he was very dismissive of me. I had a scan but no blood tests at all and he put my miscarriages down to the Implanon contraceptive implant i had in for a year about 3 yrs ago affecting my progesterone levels. He then had the audacity to promise me that this preg would be ok - he actually said it twice!!! he said to try clomid after a few months if I didn't conceive - then added as I walked out the door "Don't go having twins!" Angry

So I'm going to either go private or try to see someone else on NHS, I'm very limited as I live miles away from civilization in Cornwall!!

Sorry for waffling on, oh and btw I am totally new to mumsnet and find it all abit confusing!

Hi. I am really sorry to hear about your mc. I hope you are wrong about this time- so fingers crossed for you.

i have had 3 mc and due to one being before dd and 2 after i didnt qualify for nhs investigations so i went private. also note that you may be able to claim this if you have private medical insurance...

anyway, my consultant was lovely. had blood tests (hormone and AMH) and scan and 2 visits. he said all was ok with me physically- just bad luck and age (i am just 40)...

sounds like your consultant lacked charm- any type of flippant comment doesnt help i dont think. I think you should change consultants. could you go back to dr and ask them about who is good to see?
