Hey all,

confused I'm 37 so 35 is definitely not too old!

glittery love the new festive name Grin. Well I had a scan on Tues and it was fine. Estimated I was 5+5 and could see gestational sac plus yolk sac. I'm going to have another scan in a few weeks but I'm feeling very sick which I'm hoping is a good sign.

thereisthesnowball · 10/12/2010 10:03

Hello again - I meant to check back in earlier but have gone from a knee operation under general anaesthetic to the inlaws staying to DD coming down with chickenpox without even a couple of hours in between. Anyway we're under house arrest now so I have a bit of time to tidy MN.

So, what do I need to know about Clomid?

Reallygrumpy - sickness does sounds like a good sign. Fingers crossed for you and Glitterybits and anyone else who is pg, and to everyone else who is trying.

reallygrumpy · 10/12/2010 14:09

Hey snowball what dose of clomid have you been prescribed and are you going to be scanned? There seem to be lots of differences in treatment. As for the clomid, I found it gave me headaches and made me grumpy but the side effects weren't as bad on 50mg as on 100mg. Definitely take it in the eve. Ummm I can't think of anything else...

thereisthesnowball · 10/12/2010 15:47

No mention of scans. I have to take 50mg Clomis for 5 days, wait a few days then take 2mg Oromone for 5 days. Oromone may have another name in English - I live in France. This is for 3 months - if that hasn't worked I book another appt with gynaecologist.

Thanks for the tip about taking it in the evening.

thereisthesnowball · 10/12/2010 15:48

Clomid!

highheelsandequations · 11/12/2010 17:08

just popping in to say glad the scan went well really

Warlin · 13/12/2010 09:17

Hi all

SNOWBALL
I have just finished my first month on clomid (50mg). I got bloods taken on day 21 last month and this month and have my first apt with a gynaecologist tmw so she will hopefully tell me if it's made a difference. I have been doing the OPKs though and still don't seem to be ovulating. What is Oromone? Do you have PCOS or anything? I haven't heard of that one. I'm going to ask for a scan to see what's going on.
I didn't notice many side effects on the clomid other than hot flushes and being a bit more moody and tearful!

REALLYGRUMPY
Sickness is def a great sign. It must be so exciting to feel that something special is happening inside you..! Good luck!

ALL
I went for to a fertility nutritionist last week and she was saying the most important thing to support ovulation is Omega 3 (and suggested taking fish oil suppliments). She also recommended falxseed to balance hormones. I bought a huge bag and me and DH are taking a spoonful with breakfast. It can't hurt!

boba82 · 13/12/2010 12:04

warlin I have just been reading the same thing in my PCOS book!

Warlin · 14/12/2010 11:38

Hi all

I need some advice....

Had my first gynaecologist apt this morning. I have been taking clomid for one month and it seems to have worked in that I ovulated...(yippee). She did a scan on me and all seemed fine there and then she took some swabs. However she wants me to stop the clomid until we get all the results back and until my DH has his sperm analysis done (which can take up to 2 months apparently!).

It's frustrating as I'm keen to keep going with the clomid since it seems to make me ovulate (no pg this month though), but now I am being told to wait for up to another 2 months before going back on it.

Part of me wants to keep taking it anyway...but I know I should prob do as she says.

Do you think that clomid kick starts something and that I might now ovulate without it? She wants me to get my bloods done on day 2 for a general hormones and again on day 21...

I suppose I just need to be patient but I'm also scared they will find something else wrong...I'm hoping my only problem was that I didn't ovulate and that is now fixed...but what if it's not.

And the maternity unit I had to go to was full of couples getting scanned and newborns which didn't help!

Any advice?

Sorry for the rant!

confu3ed · 14/12/2010 11:59

Thanks really I do feel old to be trying great to know that there is hope! Sickness is a really good sign, apparently the lack of it was a sign that things were not going right for me when I miscarried last year.

Warlin might try the fish oil as the clomid doesn't seem to be working on it's own for me!! I do the ov tests but don't know if tgey work really as I get positives every month SWI like mad but still no BFP :(

Hi to everyone else x

boba82 · 14/12/2010 15:25

That seems strange warlin but they are the experts. Did they say why they wanted you to stop? It seems strange they let you take it last month without doing these tests then?

highheelsandequations · 14/12/2010 17:49

warlin my consultant didn't want me taking the clomid until DP had had is semen analysis as he said it's bad for your body to take too much clomid so you want to make sure every cycle has the best possible chance, so if my DPs results had come back showing problems they might have wanted to try something else instead of/as well as the clomid. I know it seems awful waiting (it took more than 6 months for me to get my clomid after first going to GP to ask, and I already had the PCOS diagnosis!) but it is worth getting a complete picture first. Not sure why they gave you the one cycle first though, maybe they wanted to check the clomid does what it's meant to? And yes it is posssible to ovulate after taking clomid for a cycle, I did :) (although it was on CD59!!!)

Waves to everyone else, how are you all?

confu3ed · 14/12/2010 20:32

Warlin that sounds insane why give you something and then tell you not to take it. But I suppose if there is a prob with your partner then it's a waste of time. My dp's sperm test was done and results back in a month.

Some people do get pg on the month they stop taking clomid, so all is not lost yet. Good luck x

Warlin · 15/12/2010 13:21

Hey All

Thanks for the messages. I got given clomid by my GP without even a consultation! I only spoke to him on the phone and he advised I get my 21 day bloods done..when they came back that I hadn't ovulated I rang him again and he prescribed clomid for 2 months but also referred me to a gynaecologist. I think she was surprised I'd been given it so easily!

I don't have PCOS and have always had regular periods so assumed my low progesterone was my only problem. She wants to check DH out too. Highheels what you said makes sense..think she wants the complete picture.

Just frustrating as I wanted to crack on when I know the clomid makes me ovulate!

I've to get day 2 and 21 bloods done next month. I bet I won't ovulate though!

Ah well, going to try and forget this TTC over Christmas.....the stress of it really doesn't help. Maybe next year will be all our years!

xx

confu3ed · 15/12/2010 22:10

Warlin it is frustrating knowing there is something wrong but not being in control of putting it right. It took me months to get an appointment with the consultant to get clomid, but was prescribed it immidiatly as the tests had already been done by my gp. It might not take as long as you think, and if if does then at least you now know that the clomid works.

I am on cd 16 and although I got a + opk result a couple of days ago I had no ther symptoms, I get no ewcm (sorry tmi) at all and now thinking that this may be why I have not had a bfp.

Reckon you are right warlin, focusing on Xmas and forgetting about ttc till the new year. I am also praying 2011 will be a year for a bfp!!!

Xx

reallygrumpy · 17/12/2010 00:06

warlin how frustrating!

Well my week isn't going well. Big water leak at our house on sunday and then this morning I had some bleeding. I saw the dr who's referred me to the EPU but it's not looking great...

stac14 · 17/12/2010 01:32

aw really it may be nothing, i bled with rileigh. When will you be going in?

warlin it is a pain in the backside but they do need the full pic. Also i have heard of people getting bfp the month they didnt take it. I know its hard but try to relax over xmas

highheelsandequations · 17/12/2010 18:07

really so sorry for what you're going through but remember bleeding can be common and doesn't always mean bad news. I've had spotting over the past couple of weeks and everything is still okay. Fingers crossed for you xxx

confu3ed · 17/12/2010 21:32

Really I hope you are ok, higheels and stac are right lots of women have spotting/bleeding in early pregnancy, try to stay positive Hun x

Warlin · 20/12/2010 09:26

Waves to everyone else.

reallygrumpy · 20/12/2010 17:16

Hi all, thanks v much for the nice messages. Well I went to the EPU today and the nurse scanned me and everything looks fine, based on size I'm 7wks 3days and the heart rate was good too. They're going to scan me again in 2 weeks time and the spotting seems to have stopped so I'm feeling more positive.

stac - I like your festive name

How's everyone else doing? Not too cold or snowed in I hope.

highheelsandequations · 20/12/2010 20:14
