Could it be another false negative?

Hi, has anyone else got experience of having a false negative pregnancy test? I did an "early" detection test 3 days before my "missed period" back in March which came back as "negative", but then my period didn't start. I retested a week after my missed period (9 days after that first test) which came back postive! Was very excited, only for it to eventually end in a miscarriage and was devastated. We're now trying again, and I'm five days late. I took a pregnancy test two days ago (four days after my period was meant to start) and it came back negative. I still haven't started my period, and I feel extremely tired all the time, like I did the first time round. I don't want to get my hopes up either but I'm not sure what to think... could I be pregnant or not? I guess I'll have to retest in a few more days...

I'm told it's very very very rare.

if your hcg levels are low it will not show up until its high enough to be detected, ive come a cross alot of threads recently with women a week late doing tests and getting negatives, but in fact a few days later get a posative. they say you can get flase negatives but rly rly rly rare to get false posatives so try in a few days and good luck :)

It is possible to get false negatives. HCG levels not high enough, urine too dilute, test not sensitive enough etc.

It's false positives that are v v rare.

Only way to know is to test again in a few days.

I am so sorry about your miscarriage.

I'm sorry to hear what you've been going through.

I'm 2 days late and still getting negatives. I'm using internet cheapie tests and worried that they're not reliable. I've had ongoing cramping which was symptom last time but trying not to get hopes up...

Good luck for POAS again in a few days.

Until your period arrives, you can't rule out being pregnant. I got my BFP last time only oncemy period was a day late and that was twins. This time (no idea how many babies yet!) I didn't get a positive test until a week after my period had been due.

Maybe you ovulated late?
