sex fours days before LH surge

I detected my LH surge today and have had EWCM since yesterday. However I had sex 84 hours ago (approx!) and not since, also won't be for the next few days. Interested to know if there is any chance I have conceived? Thanks.

In the right conditions sperm can live for 5 days. But if you did not have EWCM during that time, chances are v reduced. Put it this way: If you have sex at exactly the right time as a healthy fertile man and a healthy fertile woman, chances of conception are around 25%. Take into account lack of ewcm, longevity of sperm etc and the chance decreases dramatically.

So theoretically, yes. Realistically, probably not.

And the other mitigating factor is that you don't know if you have already ovulated, are about to ovulate or will ovulate at all this cycle. A LH surge is just that.

So, that didn't help at all did it?

Thanks that it helpful in that I should just relax and see what happens.

Am I right in thinking an LH surge is pre-ovulation?

Unlikely. BUT, we dtd on a Monday, had the positive OPK on the following Sunday (6 days later) and DS2 is the result (I was shocked, although we were trying, I didn't expect to that month as DH was working away on what I thought were the 'critical' days). It can happen.

Wow! OK I guess I do need to be open minded! DP is ill so need to concentrate on that too.
