AF started light, stopped then faint line....

TMI alert...
AF started in the usual way with very light spotting Thurs just to say she's on the way. Next day nothing more than spotting although it was more red. Redness disappeared and went back to brown spotting then nothing at all. I decided to do HPT and got very, very faint line so I decided to get a little excited since I thought it was all over this month.

Anyway, still no "proper" AF, no cramping or anything but still very, very light bleeding which is definitely a little bit red sometimes but there is hardly anything there which is SO not "me". Tested again this morning - extremely faint line. Fainter than the one on Saturday morning. Is this a chemical preg?

I was so disappointed when I thought AF was on her way - jumped off the April bus and everything but then when AF came to almost nothing I started to get excited again... Faint BFP got me really excited but now I am getting really down again due to almost gone faint line on this mornings HPT :(

Just looking for some knowledge from those who might have been through something similar. I guess only time will tell but I soooooo wish I had not tested now :( :( :(

You're right, only time will tell. At the moment you are testing positive, which means you are producing hcg.

I have had a couple of chemical pregnancies and a miscarriage. I have also had implantation bleeding. It's all so very difficult I know.

Tamashii · 09/08/2010 11:48

Thanks for the reply. I suppose I am looking for someone to say "Yes! You are most definitely pregnant and will have a nice strong positive when you test again tomorrow morning!" which is obviously a lot of crap. Hmm

I am sooooooo trying to be patient and also not get my hopes up too much. When I got PG with DS I didn't even know I was pregnant until I realised I was about 2 weeks late and of course got a full on positive stronger than the control line.

This time since we are TTC I can hardly even make it to the end of the 2WW. Didn't wanna post on the bus thread cos I don't want to put a downer on things but I feel I will go crazy cos obviously can't talk about this in RL cos no one knows we are TTC and OH will only go with a full colour deep positive line on the HPT as getting this faint one and then no baby is too sad for him to think about.

Thanks again anyway

Sweetheart it sounds very difficult for you. I'm really sorry you're going through this.

I think I may have had a chemical pregnancy this time round as I had a very faint bfp which then disappeared, but I had a proper AF then.

It sounds to me as though you would be bleeding a lot more if you weren't pregnant.

Hope that it works out xx

LibertyGibbet · 09/08/2010 12:06

It's a bloody awful, consuming, worrying time.

I used to marvel at the years I spent religiously taking my pill, worrying that if I so much as looked sideways at a naked willy, I'd be pregnant. It then turned out that getting pregnant wasn't that straightforward after all.

FWIW, I've never had a strong positive test. Always faint. The faintness of the test is nothing to do with the viability of pregnancy. It's all about the limitations of the test, time of testing etc.

I do so hope that this has a happy ending.

You too Flight. I'm sorry to hear about the cp.

monkeybumsmum · 09/08/2010 12:16

Not to get your hopes up too much, but when I was pg a couple of years ago I had a very faint positive, then bled lightly for 5 days... It could be implantation bleeding, and I hope so much that it is!
See what happens tomorrow morning when you test again - good luck x

Tamashii · 09/08/2010 12:26

Thanks for the RL experiences here - it's so confusing. I aim not to get my hopes up unless all bleeding/spotting is gone by end of the week but who am I kidding?

BTW actually LOL'd at LibertyGibbet "looking sideways at a naked willy" made me :) thanks

I had a CP, got a faint +ve on the Monday which was day 1 of new cycle (the day I was anticipating period), it went to a -ve by Friday lunchtime (although I hadn't tested in between), got period on the Friday night however it was quite a light one.

You're still making the pg hormone so there's still hope! good luck for tomorrow morning's test.

PS I also got pg on the following cycle to that so even if it's not your month this month, it could be in 4 weeks' time! "they" say you're more fertile immediately after a CP or MC.

Tamashii · 09/08/2010 19:27

Thanks Bellepink I conceived DS immediately after an early MC so maybe there's some truth in that...

Still brown spotting (eeew TMI again) but at least it hasn't come to anything.... yet...

Am really worried about testing in the morning but will have to do it anyway just for peace of mind. I am so hoping there will be a line that is darker or nothing at all. I don't want a fainter line again cos that will probs just confirm the worst.

Thanks again ladies. I really appreciate your replies

Hi there,

I'm really hoping that you're PG, but I will tell you my experience. I tested 4 days before AF and got a positive, I was so thrilled. The day AF was due, I started to get some brown spotting, not what I normally get. Over the week it went from red, to brown, to red and eventually I went to the EPU where they confirmed that there was a sac but told me that I just had to wait.

So by the Friday, I was bleeding much heavier and was in quite a bit of pain. This was indeed an early MC.

HOWEVER.... 6 weeks later I was PG with my gorgeous DD (first baby) who is now 14 months old. So I'm hoping that if things don't work out for you now, in a few weeks it will happen again. Really hope to come on tomorrow though and hear that the lines on the HPTs are darker!! Smile

Tamashii · 10/08/2010 07:33

Ok. Did HPT with FMU and BFN. Looks like I will just have to wait for AF now n try again. Hope I can wait until 1wk after AF due date next time I appear to be PG.

Thanks for all the comments - u really helped me when I have no one to talk to in RL

Sorry to hear that Sad but lots of luck for the next cycle xx

DawnAS · 10/08/2010 11:35

Sorry to hear that Sad but remember what I posted, if you've been PG once (even for a short time) it can happen again and hopefully quickly!

Wishing for a sticky bean for you next time! Smile

Miffles · 10/08/2010 17:55

I just wanted to add my commiserations to Tamashii, and thanks to you other ladies. Isn't it interesting how many other people are going through the same thing on MN, and can encourage each other. It's almost as if things are more real on here than in RL!

How encouraging to hear what you said DawnAS about being more fertile after CP. I had heard it about mc, but not cp. I have PCOS and no regularity to my periods. Have had a couple really light, almost spotting only 2 or 3 weeks apart. Then read that you can be pg and still bleed, so decided to test to prove myself wrong (IYSWIM!). Got a really faint line, overexcited, but it turned to BFN a few days later. Anyway, am now in full AF - first proper one in ages.

A big waffle to say from what other people have written, I reckon I had a cp, but that it is encouraging. Maybe I actually ovulated and got it fertilised, even if this one didn't stick.

Good luck girls!!

Tamashii · 11/08/2010 08:27

It really does make a difference talking on here because there are others going throught exactly the same experiences - no one hasn't been there before no matter what is happening to you and since it is anonymous it is so much easier just to say it exactly like it is and get the truth back as well. You could not do that in RL.... I mean, imagine talking to a mum you see at the nursery about the colour of your CM?!?!?! Then on here you just blurt it all out and put TMI after it which makes it all ok :)

Thanks again for the support here. I really appreciate it

Tamashii · 11/08/2010 19:21

Ok - I am back with this again...

Still having almost non existant "period". It's like TMI brown smears of CM when I wipe and sometimes really dark red streaky blood but soooo little. This has been going on for almost a week with days of nothing but a little on the TP...

Anyway, so I tested the other day and got BFN... Well, I felt so nauseous last night and today that I tested again this afternoon - almost missed the stick though - and got the FAINTEST line... It's back!?!?!?

ARGH! What is going on??? Just wish I could find out either way but hopefully the tests will get stronger. Not feeling too hopeful though.

I have ordered pack of internet cheapies so I can monitor lines from tomorrow morning (if they arrive then)....

I'm off to post about how faint 12dpo HPT lines can be!

OP posts:
Bellepink · 12/08/2010 12:47

How odd! What's going on there? [excited emoticon]. If there's still a line, well, y'know... a line is a line ias a line! Keep testing! Keep us posted too! [nosy emoticon] Wink

Good luck!

Tamashii · 13/08/2010 08:38

Ok this it it. The end. Did HPT yesterday afternoon - nothing. BFN. Another 2 this morning with FMU (really strong FMU sorry if TMI) and nothing at all. Not even the faintest of faint lines so definitely all gone now. Bright red bleeding this morning too and I feel awful. Was sick yesterday morning - not sure what that was about but had been feeling really nauseous all week tailing off with the fading lines so I guess that was the hcg leaving my system.

What now? Do I just wait for full on AF or will it be like another MC? Think I will post a new topic on this part.

Thanks again for the help. Just wish AF would come on properly now cos we are away next week n I don't want to be suffering then too.
