Positive OPK and positive CBFM - but no ferning at all ... worried (again)

I've read that ferning microscopes measure estrogen, while OPKs measure LH. I've never used either the scopes or sticks before, but decided to for this cycle because I had accidentally discovered I had a positive LH surge on the day AF was due last month and wanted more of an idea of what might be happening.

I do use a CBFM, which gives me peaks every month, and I chart, which seems to indiciate I am ovulating.

But the ferning microscope is not even giving me a transitional ferning pattern, and I am following directions to the letter.

I read that estrogen responsible for building up endometrial lining, necessary for implantation. I am now wondering if this (aparent absence of estrogen to trigger ferning?????) could explain my two MCs.

Does anyone know more about how these work and if I am doing something wrong?
