Hidden Cervix

Ive been TBC for over a year and have just been to the nurse this morning to have a swab taken to check for any infections as I have bleeding in between periods and after sex for a while now and she told me that my cervix is located far to the right and very high up so it could be a factor in delaying conception because the sperm is not getting there easily so should try laying on my left after sex. Just wandered if anybody else had this and whether anybody had any advice on other ways to increase my chances. Ive tried to google but doesnt really give any answers. I also thought this might help others who could be having the same problems as me

Appreciate any thoughts

Whereabouts in your cycle are you? It wasn't until I started using a mooncup that I realised how much your cervix moves over the month. Could be that your cervix is in a better position when you're fertile?

beckie90 · 03/08/2010 11:52

hiya, absentbump i have the same thing, well its hidden, but its not really high up, but it does change through the month sometimes its really high and other times its low.
but i have concieved pretty easy, mine is hidden but also tilts the wrong way, its supposed to tilt forward but mine tilts backwards.
im sure you will manage to concieve soon

hi absentbump bit of a strange thing for the nurse to tell you really. I am a Practice Nurse and would NEVER tell a woman the position of her cervix could cause problems getting pregnant! your cervix will move depending on where you are in your cycle. Yes, some girls do have tilted cervix's but as far i am aware does not affect fertility but i am not a gynaegologist so don't quote me!!

beckie90 · 03/08/2010 12:17

i was gonna say lib76 mine is tilted and hidden and i have 1 perfect little boy concieved after 1 unprotected time, and i had a mc last year, also concieved really easy if i can im sure any1 with the same prob can

absentbump · 03/08/2010 12:23

ah thanks girls, im at day 21 of my cycle so you never know it could be the month for me anyway fingers crossed.
Thanks Lib76 for your advice I did think she shouldnt really say that but maybe she was just thinking it might help to lay on my side after but did scare me a bit.
Thanks beckie90 and karstan I did not realise your cervix moved around so much so that is probably why and hopefully it is at the right place when i'm most fertile.

absentbump Your cervix not only moves around, it changes texture and opens and closes at different times of your cycle. It's high, soft and open at your most fertile, and low, hard and closed when you are not fertile ... with degrees of changing in between as well. Charters are familiar with rummaging to identify most fertile times.

Hello

I agree with Lib76 - I am a practice nurse too and would never tell a lady that . She probably was trying to be helpful to be fair, but have no fear - those swimmers know where to go

Karstan · 03/08/2010 15:01

Mind you, I don't really get the high when you're ovulating thing, doesn't that just mean the little swimmers have further to swim?

absentbump · 03/08/2010 15:29

ah thanks girls you have put my mind at rest will just continue trying to BD as much as possible and fingers crossed yes you would like it would get lower to help the little swimmers!

You really need to read My beautiful cervix. Through your fingers if necessary.

It will open your eyes!!

Good luck

Karstan · 03/08/2010 16:04

Lionstar - the pictures on that site amaze me. I can't even find my cervix at certain times of the month, nevermind take pictures of it!

Lib76 · 03/08/2010 17:06

batteryhen glad to see a fellow Practice Nurse in agreement! really surprises me what some nurses say to people!
