Already have a fab little girl (20 months). Came off Cerazatte last October. Still b fed occasionally til about Christmas, and have been TTC for 9 months now. DD1 was a one hit wonder.I was 34 when she was conceived, 35 when she was born, and now 36. Have tried OPK's and never got a +ive, so begged GP to check was ovulating. Just had 21 day progesterone test back with a result of 38, so all appears to be normal. Is it possible that all is well, and just taking a lot longer this time, or is it weird after having first baby so easily?

Thoughts welcome as getting stressed about getting stressed as know that doesn't help either! ;-)

I have no experience, but apparently it took my parents nearly two years to conceive me and they were both young. My Mum went to see the doctor, he told her to relax and bam, next month she was expecting. Assuming that it would take just as long with the second one, they enjoyed an occasional romp when I was still a wee baby. Exactly 12 months after I was born, my little sister popped out and they were not even trying. So yes, it is possible that sometimes you take ages to conceive and sometimes it just happens!

Having said that, have a look at this. And in dealing with your GP, tere is a great NM section here. I particualrly like the top tip, which advises you to lie to your GP about how long you have been trying to conceive.

Anyway, best of luck!

With DS it took us 3 months, which was a shock to us as we were expecting it to take longer. With this one it took us 2 years.

We did find the Drs were reluctant to help, and were flat out told we would not be put forward for IVF as we have 1 child, so it did seem to be a case of if we couldn't do it on our own it wasn't going to happen.

Thankfully it happened eventually and DS2 is due next month.

It was quite hard for us as we expected it to take as long as it did for DS1, but have since heard a lot of people struggle to conceive their 2nd after having no problems with their 1st.

Hopefully your GP will be more helpful than ours was! Best of luck to you
