Long cycles, spotting and ...mucus

Sorry to be so graphic with my first chat but have been reading mumsnet for a while and hoping to find someone who appeared to suffer the same unreadable signs as me... are you out there?

My cycles are up to 58 days long (very heavy when they do come), in the middle (about day 26) I get spotting for about 6 days. On top of this I have been attentively looking for the "right" kind of mucus, and unless I am going mad I seem to get this about 3 time in my cycle, in particular at the end of the spotting phase.

I have though about using the ovulation stick but when to begin?

Can't help a whole lot i'm afraid but have you thought about temping for a month or two? A raise in your temp half way through the month might help you loads.
Have a look on Fertility Friend Website for more info - the downloadable handbook is fairly good.

I used to get spotting at ovulation, but it was just a tiny amount of blood-streaked mucus not several days' worth. My cycles are normal length though, and quite regular. I too would suggest temping. You need quite an accurate thermometer. Have you discussed this with your doctor at all?

I had very long cycles and mid cycle bleeding. When I saw a consultant it turned out I wasnt ovulating. Have you spoken to your gp about it?

I haven't talked to gp about it, since I thought it was just normal!! but will make an appoinment. Temping sounds like the thing to try in the meantime.

Thanks for the advice
