Any chance I could be pregnant?

I've never posted on here before but I have seen a few similar threads. I have 2 children already and we are not actively TTC, however my period is now 8 days late (absolutely always comes after 28/29 days - I know this as I am rather sad and record it on my iphone...). I have done about 8 tests, all negative - despite not really wanting a 3rd I have found this really really devastating and am now desperate for a positive result.

I know in my heart of hearts that it must just be my body playing up and there can be no real chance of pregnancy if I haven't tested positive by now. Am I right? I'd be really grateful for any opinions.

Actually, on re-reading that it does sound a little dramatic and not fair to those ladies whose situations are such that a negative result is truly devastating to them.

I do find myself absolutely gutted at each negative result though and am admittedly clutching at straws looking at ways to dismiss them and pretend there is a chance I could still get a positive result.

have you been stressed? this can change periods. my periods have changed from 31 to 36 days now- so they do change. i have been i the same boat as you have 2 childrens. really stressful isn't it. have there been any big stresses in your life? how old are you if you don't mind me asking? thanks

it could just be late ovulation as lotti says. it does happen. anything significant happen round about your usual time of ovulation?

Thank you for responding. I wouldn't say I have been any more stressed than usual - so far this year I have got married, moved home and been to court 3 times over my abusive ex partners access to my eldest daughter - all without any impact on my cycle! None of which was this month. I'm 34 by the way.

The only thing which has been slightly unusual is that I bled for a bit longer than usual on my last period - getting on for 2 weeks - could this upset my next period?

I'm feeling a bit foolish to be quite so ignorant of my cycle at this age.

well, any change in your cycle is worth noting. i am not speaking from any knowledgeable experience but at a guess i suppose a longer period might mean a later ovulation. but again, i really don't know. sorry. i am no help to you at all.
