Pregnancy after the pill, how long did it take?

When I came off the pill to try for DS2 I didn't have a period for 4 months, then got pregnant the cycle after.

This time I had a period after 31 days, so am hoping i may be regular.

How long did it take you please?

I became pregnant straight away - so stopped the pill, had the usual period then must have ovulated and got pregnant. I had read that you either get pregnant straight away or it can take a few months.

Interesting!

I don't think it will be this month, not much action going on, we're both ill!

I've come off the pill to try for Baby No 1 a week ago, I'll keep you posted!

I came of the pill end of Feb to TTC.
Didn't have a period til beginning of May, then got pregnant in that cycle.

HOWEVER, unfortunately M/C after 8wks.

I don't wish to dampen anyone's spirits. I am not a 28cycle person and never have been, although I always used to have 1 period a month, so I know my body wasn't back to normal when I concieved.

What I am saying is it took me 2months to get a period after stopping the pill and then it was 5weeks before I ovulated and concieved.

I'm going to wait a cycle before trying again to give my body time to recover. I wish you all the best of luck! x

Both times I came off the pill I had regular 26-28 day cycles (was 29-31 days pre-pill). With dd we didn't try for the first month, then conceived 2nd month of trying, this time started trying straight away and conceived 3rd month. So both times 3rd month off the pill. Hope it happens quickly for you.

I came off the pill in October, AF arrived every 28 days (same as when I was on the pill) and I got a bfp in January.

Jojay · 29/07/2010 15:51

I conceived both babies in the first month coming off the pill.

Unfortunately took me 5months to get my period after coming off of the pill and they are still irregular now. The pill leaves your system very quickly so it is possible to get pregnant straight away as the other ladies have said but although I am being tested for PCOS the doctor says it can take up to a year for your body to remember what it is supposed to do each month when you stop the pill.

Good luck everyone.

Should have said any worries it's best to go to your GP.

clarebear1 · 30/07/2010 14:08

I come off pill had 'proper' period the date it was due then conceived a week later when i was ovulating :-)

LouM10 · 30/07/2010 20:14

I came off the pill 2 weeks before I got married, had one period, then up the duff. It happened the same way with my sis 2 mth later. Uber fertile. Oh yeah haha

mummytosquidgies · 30/07/2010 21:53

With DS I came off the pill, got pregnant on 3rd cycle.

With this one we'd been trying for 18 months, then went back on the pill at Drs request to try and kick my hormones back in to shape, came off the pill again in October (so after 3 or 4 months) and got pregnant in November.

Good luck

i came off cerazette and it took me 6 months to get pregnant. i was starting to get worried that something was wrong, but it must just have been the amount of time my body needed to get into the cycle and get rid of the pill i spose

Granny23 · 30/07/2010 22:13

Twice had period, stopped pill, never had another period - was pregnant. 3rd time I had gastric flu and couldn't keep anything down, including the pill - was pregnant by the end of the month.

emmerson · 06/08/2010 21:56

HI
I wish doctors told you the risk of taking the pill-its been 4 months since I stopped taking microgynon and no sign of a period. i was on it for 15 years and no doctor ever said this might happen. i now read that it can take over a year to get periods again - i would have come off it earlier if I'd known this!
i have had blood tests (all normal)and talked to GP about scan which can take 3 months. i don't want to worry about it but its difficult to TTC without any cycle to speak of!
any reviews of accupuncture greatly recieved- can it 'induce' a period???

dooneygirl · 06/08/2010 22:00

Came off in November, was pregnant by Christmas.

pinkmagic1 · 06/08/2010 22:13

Took 3 months with my 1st and 6 with my 2nd. With my first, my periods returned to normal straight away but when coming off to try for my 2nd they were all over the place. I have just come off the pill again, not too conceive this time, but just for a break and had a proper period after 28 days.

DawnAS · 07/08/2010 21:32

Came off the pill in the April of my wedding (two years ago) and started TTC in the June and fell the first month. Had an MC and then was PG again in the August and had our gorgeous DD (now 14 months).

Good luck!

SaorAlba · 08/08/2010 22:16

Took my last pill on May 24th. Had the withdrawal bleed, then a period at the end of June. Haven't bled since and got a bfp on Saturday. So 2.5 months ish from last pill to bfp.

lindsell · 08/08/2010 22:27

didn't have periods while on the pill so expected it to take ages but stopped it to ttc and within 2 wks I'd conceived, ds born 9mths almost to day of stopping taking it!

good luck!

Bumpsadaisie · 09/08/2010 15:39

It took me 6 months to have regular periods after stopping Microgynon.

Thankfully I stopped the Pill exactly 6 months before I planned to TTC and DD was conceived the first month of trying.

cowboylover · 09/08/2010 21:22

How long where you on Microgynon?

Bumpsadaisie · 10/08/2010 09:48

About 5 or 6 years?

Bumps x

Badgerwife · 23/11/2010 16:09

Came off the pill at the end of July and had a BFP this morning. So nearly 4 months (if I'm going to trust that test!). Had awful, awful withdrawal symptoms from the pill though, like I haven't had before, feeling sick all day from Day 14 of the cycle, waking up in the night feeling very hot.
