My paediatrician says they're unreliable.

starlover · 24/03/2006 14:10

lol chai! i was told that too!

by a doctor, a nurse and a consultant paediatrician no less!
(all independently of one another too)

CarolinaMoon · 24/03/2006 14:12

what did they recommend using instead?

I am sometimes surprised by the results it gives tbh.

But they use similar ones in hosp.

starlover · 24/03/2006 14:13

they all recommended a digital underarm thermometer.

they said that they are inaccurate because most parents will not position it correctly, mostly because they're too scared of pushing it in too far etc etc
so can be very inaccurate... in fact, our hospital doesn't use them any mroe either for the same reason

CarolinaMoon · 24/03/2006 14:20

lol, I remember how far into my ear the MWs wedged them after my c-section, so I try and do similar with ds Wink.
