Really belle? I can't tell if you're joking, but MN is a whole website, not just the talk boards. And even on the boards there are lots of posters who post in the more niche topics, not just Chat and AIBU.

I have been a member since 2006 and entered loads of comps/surveys ( this has been my 2nd win in all that time) have random posting history depending on work etc (lots of posting 2006/2007 when pg and on maternity leave sporadic phases of posting now but lurk alot)have seen comps on here linked onto competition forums but I suppose the rules are if you are a member you have the right to enter!

You have to admit that some winners have very dodgy similar names. 'Jane012' and 'Jane013' for example (I made these up but I have noticed ones that resemble these). They also have no history when searched (I'm nosey and the names give it away).

Some people might use other parts of the site but not the talk boards, then they have to register and pick a username to enter a competition.

I'm the opposite; on the boards all the bloody time and I've never won anything

It just seems very odd that the usernames are so similar sometimes. I know from being on Twitter that there are people who just enter competitions all day and do nothing else. I think a '1 entry per member' is a good idea, probably a nightmare to enforce though.

Oh I see your point. It would be fairer if only "genuine MN users" could enter, rather than "professional competition enterers". But yeah, no idea how you'd enforce that.

belle I have a very similar name to another mumsnetter and this is my Christmas nickname, I'm usually just plain old filibear.....
I suppose with a board with so many members some will have similar names.

I really really really wanted the Robin Hood tickets and entered squliions of times but didn't win so it doesn't work anyway!
