Climate Change

MP reply

I've just had a long email from my (Tory) MP who states the 'progress' and 'commitments' the government has made. He didn't actually answer my question about whether he was on the floor to vote on the climate emergency but it was passed anyway (and has no legal commitment), so I looked up his voting record and he has consistently voted against climate change - supporting tax levies and voting against passing carbon reduction laws.

I feel like replying to ask why he has says he recognises the importance of debate etc why has he voted to make things worse/not allow improvements.

I don't want to be an arsehole but his reply does not match his voting record.

Thoughts?

Good on you for contacting him but I honestly don't think anything could make a Tory care about the planet. I got a Tory leaflet through my door once and in a list of bullet points there was something vague about wanting to clear up litter / restore some areas of land, as if it say 'look we've ticked the environmental care box'. Zero mention of the much bigger picture of the dangers of climate change, they honestly don't have a clue!

I don't want to tell you you're wasting your time as I do think it's important pressure is put on politicians to bring about change. At the same time though I just don't think there is any getting through to tories!

Sorry op. Well done for trying Thanks

Agree I think it's a waste of time. Our Tory mp is equally clueless.
Vote green in the European elections.
