The petition asks the Government to move the UK Carbon dioxide emissions target dates from the current date of 2050 to an earlier deadline of 2035. There are many demonstrations and people are currently trying to raise awareness of this issue, it will be very interesting to observe the governments response if the required 100000 signatures are obtained. Many thanks.

Thanks. Signed and shared on other social media.

Thanks so much! So important and so much in the news at the moment but there seems no sense of urgency by anyone in the Govt to actually try and do anything about it!

I’ve signed and shared. It’s the most important challenge facing us as a species, nation and individuals. Why are there only 1000+ signatures?!

Bumping this - it runs until May 2019

Would anyone like to join Friends of the Earth's action on

Saturday 30 March from 10:00 to 1.00

at

HSBC, 88 Muswell Hill Broadway, London N10 3RX (corner of Hillfield Park)

to combat HSBC, one of the biggest funders of climate breakdown.

We are disgusted that HSBC are HAPPY STILL BEING in COAL.

HSBC have responded somewhat to campaigners’ pressure, agreeing to stop funding new coal-fired power stations, except in 3 large Asian Countries. Our MP Catherine West will join us on 30 March to ask people to complete our postcard telling HSBC to stop funding coal.

HARINGEY DECLARES CLIMATE EMERGENCY!

On 18 March Haringey Council accepted our proposal to declare a climate emergency. The Council has undertaken to step up efforts to make the borough carbon neutral by 2030. We will closely monitor their plans and continue to push for greater urgency.

41 British councils have now declared a climate emergency, in effect promising to become carbon neutral, in most cases by 2030. They include Bristol, Cambridge, Liverpool, Manchester, Lambeth, Enfield and Lewisham. No doubts campaigners will get other councils to follow their example.
