house swap ideas

Okay I have left it v v late for sorting out my summer holidays... and I wondered (since availability is slim on nice places) if house swapping was an idea/way forward. We live in beautiful large house in Buxton (Peaks) and would like to go anywhere within 3 hour drive that is nice and has stuff to do... It would be me, DP and 2 kids. Want to go w/c 22nd August.

Any interest ? Any ideas where you can find out about houseswapping. Do NCT still do it ?

Cambridge is lovely - but never seems kid friendly - convince me

I've never used them but lurked a lot. Plenty of families looking to house swap so family friendly.

Cambridge is great for kids, DS loves it! Fantastic parks, great river walks and cycle rides (do your kids cycle?) It is, in fact, a brilliant place for cycling.

Lots of museums free of course, including the zoological museum which is DS's favourite.

a big outdoor swimming pool open all summer, as well as a park with a lovely lido in it.

A zoo nearby, petting zoos, plenty of indoor soft play places, how old are your kids?

punting. Kids love punting and you could punt all the way to granchester and have a picnic in Granchester meadows, or have tea in the Orchard (very famous)

no end of free summer activities for kids put on by the local coucil in collaboration with the university, including a science festival.

My sister used to live in Fulbourn and it is a lovely place (apart from traffic)... Do you work for tourist board ??

lol no I don't work for the tourist board but yes I am after a swap!

My DS is 5, so plenty of age appropriate toys! Only a two bed terrace though, but it is slap bang in the centre of town!

Is it easy to park ? I just want something sorted so I don't have to think about that week that we have nothing on...

umm...hhhmmmmm

there's no parking actually! So that would be tricky. There's some on street parking about ten minutes walk away though.

Just saw your dates too, we're going away that week, so wouldn't be able to come and stay in your lovely house
