House swaps

Would I be mad to move?

I live in a pretty newbuild owned by a brilliant HA. We have two large double bedrooms, live close to a great school and my 7 year old is really attached to the house. No trouble causing teenage gangs around. Some lovely neighbours about and DD has a couple of good friends.

I hate it here though because the garden is crap and pretty much unusable. There’s constant antisocial behaviour and drama amongst the adults. Multiple parking issues. Noise. The guy next door is dealing drugs and I can’t open my windows because my house starts stinking of weed as soon as I do. Litter and disgusting messes everywhere, one neighbour lets her kids wee everywhere so it stinks. The downstairs of my house itself is tiny and has an awkward layout so it’s not perfect.

I’m not in a position to buy yet and private renting is so insecure. I’ve been thinking about homeswapping but concerned that I’m likely to end up somewhere even worse than I am now. Would I be mad to swap to another council house, risking a rougher area and a landlord who doesn’t deal with issues properly?

Hi everyone!
I live in hackney homerton area in a two bedroom pretty small flat. It is on ground floor and have a small back space, sole use. Both bedrooms are double though everything else are pretty compact. I want to move back to islington. Barely anyone want to move to homerton. Though I found somebody who want to exchange with me with their maisonnette. I liked their home, bigger and better layout. But it has two flights of stairs and no lift or security on the block, and the area is between stoke newington and newington green in hackney, on border of islington. Now, if I take this place I would want to move again to get to my ideal place. I will only take it as a little upgrade so I can get what I exactly want. I don't have the energy to gather multiswap. My concern is will this be an upgrade though? Do you think I'd get better luck to find swap in islington if I move to stokey/newington green or if I be a bit more patient and stay where I am, do you guys think it will give me better chance to find what I want considering it is on the ground floor with small garden.

P.s. there's another flat I got offered in Angel Islington. Purpose build block. Three bedrooms, 2nd floor also no lift and the flat is quite small for a three bedrooms. I know too many people want to up size, so if I want to downsize to two bedrooms again, do you think I'd get swap more easily?

I will much appreciate your feedbacks!

I apologise if I've added my question in the wrong place. I am new to mumsnet and could not yet find where I start my own thread or question. Google landed me here and and I ignorantly written it down here on somebody else's thread. Sorry... 😬
