Hi all,

First post on this site, nice to meet you all!

My wife, one-year-old son and I are considering moving to the Waterlooville area. We were initially looking at Chichester/Emsworth but it's becoming clear we can't afford the three bedroom house we need in these areas, so we've switched our attention to Waterlooville/possibly Havant.

I've heard quite a few bad things about the latter but there's not an awful lot about Waterlooville online, which I'm hoping is a good thing!

I'd love to hear people's thoughts on whether they think it would be a good place for a young family to buy. We're currently in a nice village on the outskirts of Guildford but it's hideously expensive and there's not really a lot going on, so being closer to amenities (and the beach) would be great.

Any recommendations on specific areas to target/avoid would be very helpful.

Thank you in advance!

Chris.

Don't know that much about Waterlooville as not originally from this area but I like it. Handy for both Pompey and Southampton. Lots of lovely countryside around it . Good shops. Has really good schools like Oatlands which has a Sixth Form. Good travel connections etc. Has a car booty(personal thing I like, lol). I'm in Portsmouth (not fancy pants Southsea but an estate 🙄) and I would move to Waterlooville. Good luck!

I know this is an old thread, but I just came across it..
I moved from Godalming to Waterlooville, so a similar move to what you are planning.

I found we would afford a much nicer place in Waterlooville for similar money to a v small house in Godalming.

Try looking at Purbrook and Widley, to the south of the town, or cowplain/horndean to the north.

As the previous post said this is a few months on but hopefully it'll help. We moved to Waterlooville earlier in the year from the Gatwick area. Didn't know anything about the town but we like it, so many things are within 20 minutes drive, the town centre desperately needs some investment and hopefully in time that will come but everything you need is here. We're really happy here.
