Trigeminal neuropathic pain - any hopeful stories or other sufferers?

Have recently been given this as a working diagnosis pending full assessment at a pain clinic- won't be type 1, but type 2 (atypical) which feels like constant burning in lips and gums and pain in my teeth, with possibly some muscle stuff involved as I haven't used my mouth to speak or eat properly for weeks. The pain has been like nothing I've ever experienced and after months of dentists failing to spot there was nerve and TMJ involvement I'm absolutely exhausted from dealing with it, sometimes really panicky. I've started nortriptyline now but only 10mg to begin with. Can anyone offer a bit of a hand hold?

Sympathies to you - it was the worst pain ever, even breathing outside was agony. I had several trips to the dentist and was told nothing wrong. Tried a different dentist who did a root canal removal and the pain went that day! Big relief. I wonder if you need more extensive dental investigations?

Notanotherrestructure- sadly not, it's actually dental work that's caused it and load of scans have just shown the teeth are perfectly healthy despite feeling like they're being ripped out with pliers. Sorry you had to go through pain like that and glad you got it sorted.
