Anyone experienced chronic reoccurring fissures?
Has anything helped?
Did you ever fully recover from flare ups?

Yikes…. My 1st experience of anal fissures in March 25. It took 7 months to diagnose & 3 months to heal using Diltiazem ointment.

I had 2 months relief before experiencing mini flare ups & a further 2.5 months to reach a full relapse.

I am now 2 months into full relapse & am exhausted from the intensity of the constant pain!

I’m awaiting another follow up with gastro consultant. Feeling low & wits end. Assuming having a hypertonic pelvic floor, hypermobility & pelvic congestion syndrome are all exasperating the symptoms! 😖

I’m week 4 into treatment & still no sign of improvement! 🥺😔

just a thought but do you get constipated? if you can pass stools easily then it should help. take plenty of roughage fruit water etc

The only thing that cured mine was a minor operation (but with a whiff of general anaesthetic). I don’t really know what they did, but it was at least twenty years ago, and it’s never recurred.

No constipation, use laxido daily to keep soft. The problem is the anal muscles in a constant state of spasms. It doesn’t even allow wind to pass let alone a BM. The anal tissue is so fragile, it’s like repeated tears on top of each other & naturally the body & muscles automatically lock into guarding mode! 🥺😖😫 awaiting a follow up next month.
