Fluid on both knees

Hi, I wonder if anyone can offer advice. I fell over on holiday about 7 years ago and damaged my left knee. It is still swollen all these years later. I also fell over about 3 years ago and damaged my right knee which is actually much more swollen than the left one.

Is there anything I can do about it now or is it too late ? Will applying ice help all these years later ?

I can't do any squatting exercises to strengthen the muscles above my knees because my knees hurt so much.

I know people will say go to GP but I am overweight so am afraid of being fobbed off.

How old are you? Could be arthritis, you need x rays.

I doubt ice would do much now, but have you seen a physio? Here the GP can refer you to one straight away. Or you could skip the GP and get a private session, see what they advise - they might be able to do things like massage or acupuncture and advise specific exercises, or whether you need an MRI etc.

If you search for ‘knee pain’ on YouTube you might find some clues as to what your particular pain is and what a physio might suggest

Agree with PP who says you need to be referred to X-rays
