Cannabis for pain

I have trigeminal neuralgia and I occasionally smoke cannabis which helps with the pain.
Has anyone else tried this for the pain?

Yes, I have a small quantity of relatively weak edibles from a 'freelancer', of which I have a tiny bit as needed for chronic & painful arthritis and lumbar deterioration (THC not CBD so legally and IMO bizarrely a Class B drug).

I might get a private prescription one of these days and go through an approved supplier.

I don't like smoking it though.

Yes. I've got facial pain too and have tried it and it has helped.
I've just applied through a private clinic and have been accepted for medical cannabis. I've been prescribed a few products to try. Hopefully I will have my medication by the end of next week.

How can I get in touch with a " freelancer "? I've got cancer pain and due to start chemo. Thanks.

Medical cannabis is legal and can be prescribed by clinics for a variety of conditions. I joined an online clinic and the assessing GP was actually a locum at my own practice, which I found reassuring.

I find it helpful when my pain is lower and it gives me a break from the stronger pain killers. Considering medical too as then I could get gummies or a vape. I don’t mind smoking it , I don’t add tobacco but it’s not great for the lungs.

I’ve been considering this and would meet the criteria for a legal prescription. But firstly it’s expensive, secondly i don’t want to be “stoned”. I was actually chatting to Michael Barrymore on tiktok about it and he’s very encouraging, think he uses Curaleaf. But he’s also not the best advert as he seems quite stoned a lot of the time but not sure if he is stoned or has other issues and it felt a bit rude to ask!

namechangeaaargh · 04/11/2025 17:13

You don't necessarily have to get stoned although if you are new to it and have no tolerance you might get stoned initially unless you microdose it. If you're vaping though even if you're stoned it wears off quickly. Oil and other edibles build up more slowly but if you have too much it takes longer to leave your system.

Ditto. I need a good “ something” for cancer related nerve pain. I’ve got oil from Curaleaf ( medically prescribed which I keep forgetting to take!) I’ve just ordered the pastilles, which I find effective for sleep.

I have used it for 15 years. It’s the only thing that works for me. I have ms. I’ve tried the nhs service but it was a rip off and poor quality imo. I buy it from a Rastafarian who is 100% organic and it’s a specific variety for pain.
