Coping with fibromyalgia with young children

Hi all,

I've just been diagnosed with fibromyalgia by rheumatology and I'm completely wiped out at the moment. I've got a two week wait before I see the doctor.

In the meantime, does anyone have any advice on how to make life easier managing with two little ones? I'm a SAHM (1 year old and 3 year old). Any hints or tips to make life easier or easy ways to keep them entertained would be appreciated. Today, I've made it as far as the sofa so my husband can work. Yesterday, he had to take the day off as I couldn't manage to get out of bed. We have no other support available to us. I am suffering with major mum guilt that my girls have been lumbered with me like this.

Any support or advice appreciated ❤️

I’m sorry OP, that is very sucky.

I almost started the same thread just this morning. I am so frigging tired all the time. Ugh. Here for tips as I already do the usual to get energy - vitamins, blood tests are fine, rest where poss. But the point is, it’s rarely poss with little kids. Also I have big kids to get to clubs etc.

Childcare wise - screen time 😅 sticker books? Reading. My kids (three aged between 9 & 2) will all play with kinetic sand for about an hour, they get engrossed.

Not fribromyalgia for me but UCTD which sounds pretty similar (fibromyalgia was a possibility during diagnosis as lots of overlap).

I'll have a look into kinetic sand. Feel like they have too much screen time already. Trying my best, difficult as I don't drive either. Feel like everything is getting on top of me. I'm completely there with you on the exhaustion 🤗

Also childcare wise - nursery 😄 do either of yours go? Highly recommend especially if the oldest doesn’t nap anymore. I just couldn’t go on this afternoon and spent a couple of hours in bed while the youngest is at nursery (older 2 occupied downstairs). Or do your 2 at least nap at the same time yet? Critical!

It's just incredibly difficult. No answers but sympathy
