Don’t know why I’m posting a woe is me post but anyway I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia about 7 years ago. Recently the pain has gotten worse I don’t know if I have sciatica/back pain what’s going on but I have really bad pain in my lower back, bum, fandango, going right down my right leg even into my foot. This is after 2 dihydrocodeine, 2 paracetamol and 2 ibuprofen tonight! I’ve been up early had a busy day at work, came home and did a fair bit tonight too so I should be tired but no can’t get comfy as I’m in agony.

I’ve even been looking at private hospitals getting a MRI scan to see if they can pinpoint where the pain is coming from. It would be a stretch but I do get ADP (PIP in Scotland) I’ve been to a chiropractor, physiotherapist, pain management doctor and I see my GP monthly.

I think you get to the really desperate stage when you can’t sleep for the pain.

I can only sympathise as I'm in the exact same boat! Mine is sciatica and it's genuinely got the tears pricking the back of my eyes tonight.

My alarm is set for half 6 😭

All the painkillers have not touched the sides. I asked gp for naproxen but they wouldn't give it to me as I'm asthmatic. So it's cocodamol 39/500s for me, so now I'm just spaced and in pain which is arguably worse

No answers, just company. Also sleepless with pain despite dihydrocodeine and paracetamol and desperately hugging a hot water bottle. Trying to somehow make the most of being up in the quiet, still hours. Very much not looking forward to my alarm going off in 5 and a half hours though.

I'm the same.. pain insomnia is awful.
I've Fibromyalgia.. osteoarthritis after breaking both hips and pelvis.. my bladder is hanging out ( bad prolapse) feels like I'm sitting on a golf ball.
Got IBS and diverticulitis flare up too.. plus bowel/ colon/ intestine/ pancreas/ liver adhesions being a bloody pain at the moment.
Been to see my psychotherapist today.. he's bloody brilliant.
Got orthopedic specialist at hospital tomorrow..
Had to book patient transport.. no taxis due to Eid...
Worse thing is l can only take paracetamol ( I'm allergic to other pain meds) tried them all.. Ibuprofen/ tramadol/ morphine.. can't take them..I'm vaping marijuana at the moment.. l bought a dry herb vape.. not cheap and charges via a USB.. but worth it.
I hope you find some relief soon.. sending healing hugs x

Why are none of you taking drugs for nerve pain, being that you've got nerve pain? Amitriptyline, pregabalin, gabapentin etc. I'm not surprised a bit of codeine and some OTC anti inflammatory isn't cutting it.

sweetkitty · 18/06/2024 01:33

Sorry to hear there are others up in pain as well, I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. It’s truly rotten. And frustrating when you want to sleep but can’t.

im scared to do any exercises or stretches now that actually might make things worse. When I went to the osteopath he really hurt me even though I told him I had fibromyalgia and had a very low pain threshold I cannot tolerate any cranking my body about. I know some people like that but it really hurts me so I’m kind of scared to see any therapists now.

Hopefully we will all get some rest soon

Because the side effects of gabapentin are pretty unbearable, it's a toss up between what's worse, the pain or the medicine.

Nerve pain is notoriously difficult to treat effectively

Moier · 18/06/2024 13:05

@Belis
Because I'm allergic to them as l said.
🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

sweetkitty · 18/06/2024 16:03

@Belis do you not think we’ve tried gabapentin, pregabalin and amitriptyline? The side-effects on both gabapentin and pregabalin were horrendous for me and amitriptyline made me so tired and sleepy when I’m already exhausted it was an utter nightmare.

I last saw the clock at 2.30am, woke at 5am was up for the day at 7am. I’ve been on my feet working all day now I’m having a nap before dinner luckily and I’m taking sleeping tablets tonight which I don’t always take every night but needs must.
